It depends on where you stay. That weekend all the rates go up and all the rooms near the event are gone quick. Palm Springs hotels are a little cheepier but it is a Drive to get to the event.
The best way to do it is get a group of Friends and Crash in one room. You can also camp right there! But you have to keep in mind that you are in the desert and a million cars drive by so it gets real dusty

They haven't done the lineup yet. It usually comes out in February.
Again, get your room now, you can always cancel it (but why would you? Coachella is the best festival in the U.S.)

As you know now, not too much
There are 2 Motel 6's close by, and they run about $55/night + taxes. You can find similar places from about 60-80/night, so you're looking about $150-$200 for the 2 nights. Split it 2-4 ways, and that's dirt cheap.
Start calling/searching on the web for the hotels. Use last year's site to get the list.
Last year, I made my reservations in December (before the dates were announced), and we stayed near Palm Desert.
You can always camp too (it's fairly cheap), but I have many reasons why not to camp
Once the dates are announced, you're pretty much screwed. The "hotels/villas" that will be left are usually 150-400/night...

I just made my Reservations at the Local Motel 6 (6 miles away from the event) a 2 night stay runs me about 120 dollars since i have 4 people staying with me thats around 30 dollars each
...not bad

Yah, its $150 for the 2 days + $1/d for charity (tax deductible) + ticketmaster fee + shipping (you want hard tickets rather than pdf tickets)
Parking is free (and there are secrets to that too
Camping I think was $20 or $30/spot for the entire weekend.
Water is $2 (10 or 12oz, don't remember).
Beer is $6+
Soju drinks are $6+
Food is festival food. It's fine.
I never eat there... I eat a bunch of fruit and carbs in the morning at the hotel, and drink water all day. At night, I do get hungry again, so I eat again in the hotel.
