I want that 2nd disc, i already own strangely isolated and the import of far away trains which cost me a crap load, well worth it though
I let my friend listen to both those albums and he got hooked so he ordered this new release of far away trains and also strangely isolated. i'll need to check out the 2nd disc from him once his order comes in
Nobody's home ![]()
Bonus disc is not new material, its merely stuff thats been on compilations and soundtracks previously.
I need Suddenly The Trees Are Giving Away on 12"
I got an email to say the item was posted about 3 days ago... looking forward to receiving it!
so what exactly is this? is this a rerelease, or its first release in North America?
I had put it on order at HMV back in June, and they just called me to say it was in.

2nd disc is nice, great to hear some new stuff from ulrich
Still havent received my CD and it was posted 2 weeks ago. Getting worried.

Got my CD safe and sound and what can I say... nothing but absolute class from Ulrich.
Damn, I was just at HMV and didn't even look for it!
I love this CD. I actually enjoy both CDs now. At first I just listened to the second CD, esp the songs "Sunday Evening In Your Street", "Suddenly The Trees Are Giving Way" and "As If You've Never Been Away" (esp love this one, so beautiful). I recently have been listening to the first CD and can't get "Nobody's Home" out of my head. I also really enjoy the title track "Far Away Trains Passing By". The melodies this guy comes up with are just incredible. I definitely think that his music is "trancey". It's unique for the most part, but if I had to label it, I would classify it as "trance-ambient". It just has a similar feel to it that trance does. His music seems youthful, euphoric, ethereal, and hynpotizing. It makes you feel like your on some island somewhere in the middle of the Pacific or Atlantic oceans, living really peacefully..watching the waves crash on the shore. The picture on the front of the CD really captures that feeling from the music. His other album "A Strangely Isolated Place" is also incredible, but it feels like your in another world or plane. Kind of depressing but uplifting at the same time. FATPB is more homey or down to Earth.

| Originally posted by stamper Great description, couldn't agree with you more. I think my favourite is still Monday Paracetemol. |
Definately agree that his two albums have a different feel and emotion to them. It's sooo goddamn hard to pick a favourite with this guy. I think he's the only artist that I cannot distinguish one track better than another. Though, for sheer nostalgic memory, I'd say Blumenthal is my fav from ASIP with In All The Wrong Places as a close second.
I think the thing that stands out most for me with Ulich is his basslines. Honestly, listen to his music with some quality speakers and you'll truly appreciate the way this guy fills up the frequences with pure sonic bliss. Not one hertz is wasted nor excessively abused.
