Any events in Clearwater/Tampa Dec 3-9?

Hi I'll be traveling down to Clearwater/Tampa area for vacation Dec 3-10 looking for some good places with great music. My music taste is anywhere from Prog trance to dirty house tribal. Any other forums you guys know of just let me know!

the scene in the tampa bay area is not the best. there's nothing that i know of in the area. you're best bet is to just go to the amphitheatre in ybor city if u want to hear electronica at all, but on a regular night, youll hear commercial stuff there. the underground is more like the name says underground. they play dark breaks and a lot of stuff that can only be found on the vinyles. i love it personally, but on a regular night, barely anyone is there. they dont have the dj's and publicity that the amp has.

but when they do bring some talent, the place is great.

Thanks guys!! I didnt think Tampa was a place with a good scene but I thought I would ask. Going with the family so I have no choice but maybe this will be a good thing since I party alot up in Detroit. I do know SOBE is the place to go for music but oh well I'l be down there for WMC!

they are correct in saying Miami is better but thats obvious...

since you are coming to the area id like to give you some positive feedback since damon never says anything nice about tampa and they didnt give you anything to look forward to...

TvD was correct about what he said concerning the Amp in Ybor City (not a city, just the club area for Tampa)... I have yet to go to the Underground, so i cant give any opinion...

i know DJ Santana (one of the great local trance djs in Tampa, wait no.. one of the great trance djs in the state) plays regularly in the Clearwater area... so id definitely check him out if he's playing during your visit..

but in all.. Ybor will give you your best bet if you are going out unknowningly... Ybor (about 10min from downtown Tampa) has all the clubs and bars you need albiet minimal EDM..

ive lived in Tampa longer than those 2 combined and would live there over Miami any day...

Hey I live in...well used to live in Orlando, live in Brevard now, but I got a cousin in Tampa so I go there often.

One of the spots I've been to only a couple of times is Hyde Park Cafe. They don't do it every week, but they do try and get some EDM Dj's in there every once in a while. Also I thought the crowd @ Hyde Park Cafe was much better then the ghetto "everyone and their mother is the next tupac" both ybor city and downtown Orlando have turned into.

good point.. and across teh street is a place called the Rack which is a chill bar that 20's locals go to.. ive gone there many a nights ending up at Hyde Park Cafe (which btw is a club).. but ive noticed it to lean much on teh latin side... but the club's main area is like a big terrace with then two side rooms... kinda cool..

Like some people said b4, Club Underground is the best bet for the Tampa area. I saw Carl Cox there a couple weeks ago, not sure if anything is going on during your visit yet. http://www.clubundergroundtampa.com/flash/index.html

DJ X @ AMP this weekend. He's ok if you like break beats. He does play some trancey breaks so I'll prolly go check it out. Then next Sat DJ Mondo the resident DJ @ AMP is doing a tribute to trance. Don't know why they call it that as if Trance has passed away or something. Anyway, he'll be spinning all trance that night so definitely going to that after attending Seinfeld @ Performing Arts Center next Sat night. Prana, a multi level club located a couple of doors down from the AMP, plays good music but is extremely crowded cause the dance floors aren't very spacious. Good alternative if you like the more snobish crowd. I personally like Hyde Park Cafe, which is my favorite club in Tampa. Tuesday nights they play House in dark side and hip hop/breaks in techno side. Friday nights is breaks/trance in techno side and hip hop/latin in dark side. I love it there because the place attracts a more sophisticated crowd and they have a dress code so don't expect to find any thugs there. Hope this helps.

DJ X sucked. Didn't find him play any trancey breaks. There were hardly a couple of tracks in the whole night that can count as good.

As it has been happening of late, more the hype, more the DJ seems to suck!

I can count on Mondo for his "tribute to trance" to atleast have some good tracks. I love his new break-beat mix of "The other side". Don't know if it's already released.
