I quit smoking tobacco!

I have ceased to be a smoker.

I am planning to stop smoking for at least a month-

I need to give it a rest for a lil bit-

Maybe ill quite forever.

This will be difficult as im constantly sorrounded by smoke and smokers. but i believe i can do it.

2 days so far.

Even one month is tough for a seasoned smoker. How long have you been smoking?

Posted by Azz3D on Nov-08-2005 13:44:

get a friend to hit you with a baseball bat every time you light up
in time you will learn to associate smoking with pain
you'll quit in no time

I've done 6 months three times

About......

2.5 years

I used to smoke too, like maybe 6-7 smokes/day for 2 years. I was a total hippocrite too, gym 6-7 days a week/basketabll 3-4 days, it was rediiculase, I mean I was seriously a pretty hardcore athlete at the same time. I'd leave the gym after playing b-ball for 3 hrs and first thing, light up.

And then one day I just STOPPED. Not like a big huge planned out thing to quit....I just literally noticed one day that it'd been 2 weeks since I'd had a cigarette. I guess it was just my time.

I don't miss it at all now, even when I drink. FTW.

EDIT: Now that I think about, I was probably more like half/pack a day. Holy shit.

So you are playing the game of temptation vs. willpower....Good luck.
It will be especially hard if you have smokers constantly influencing you. If you are serious about it try to stay away from them at least for a lil while. Watching someone smoke while you are trying to quit can be brutal.

I've quit a couple of times. I can only quit if my hubby does it with me. When one of us slips we both fall. Its kind of unavoidable in my case cuz we live together and share everything we have.

i made the same thread a month ago...

and look where it got me...

i bought a carton today...

btw.. i lasted 13 days..

and in the army about 65% smoke so its real hard not being around those who smoke..

as with all other things I recommend drugs. There is a drug called Zyban.... it will take any and all cravings right away (it will also make you happy as it is also an antidepressent "Wellbutrine). It worked for me twice, I quit with no problem.... the only wrinkle is you have to have the willpower to keep from starting again.

I don't smoke, but my friend did this

just reduce the amount of cigs you somke per day slowly

say you smoke a pack a day, then reduce 2 cigs/day every 2-3 weeks.

Posted by KilldaDJ on Nov-08-2005 14:57:

im quite anti tobacco too, dont really like smoking it, however i am a weed addict so i'll puff that away

no more smoking tobacco!

Your posts were cooler when you were a smoker. Do you mind starting again just for me?

attention whore.

I am seriously thinking of taking up smoking just to see wtf the big deal is with it. Ive smoked 4 in my life and there is nothing I can relate that type of depence with. seriously, nothing, nothing has taken over my life where I cannot stop it....well besides popping a boner, but thats built in physiology.

and there are many behavioral methods to use to help you minmze the risk of smoking again, but it all comes down to the pure simple fact of, do you really want to quit smoking? if you do you will. unless you suck and you smell of elderberries.

Haha i do not smell of elderberries!

I want to quit for a while.

Actually, during these next couple of days i will see for myself if i am dependent on them, thus far it seems like i just enjoy smoking. its a nice feeling. after a meal, before bed, chills me out.

so lets see if i need them.
