Official Paul van Dyk review thread

HOLY FUCK!

Best set... evAr! Dear Jesus, the energy just didn't end. So much new shit I've never heard before.

What I remember being played off the top of my head

Kuffdam & Plant - Summer Dream (PvD remix)
Paul van Dyk - The Other Side (Deep Dish remix)
Mr. Sam - Lyteo (original)
Yellow Blackboard - Superfly (Andy Moor remix)
Marcel Woods - Advanced
Marco V - False Light
Departure - Without You Near
Paul van Dyk - We're Alive
Paul van Dyk - For an Angel
Way Out West - Mindcircus (breaks remix)

That entire set was just... too much to fucking comprehend. Completely perfect the entire way through.

Good seeing Susan, Samira, Samira's sister, aaaand well, that was about it.

Yeah! It was amazing, I had so much fun; I could've danced for another 8 hours

HappyHappy

i can't go to sleep. i am still so pumped from that show. and my god that song false light by marco v just put the show over the top. it was an awesome time. and i was able to meet some fellow TA people which rocked too.

There's a lot of Javi in this thread... but not Javi Javi

Oh man, I still can't believe I saw and heard what I just... well... saw and heard.

The Eleven 50 needs to start recording sets and have them available for download. It can't be too hard or expensive to do that and everyone would love them for it because... well... who wouldn't want to listen to what happened last night on a continuous loop for a week or so.

And was it just me or was everyone at the Eleven 50 completely kerfcukered. Seems like over half the people were on pills, k, and other assorted illicit substances. I'm not saying that's bad, just funny watching them look half retarded, covered in their own sweat, trying to mouth the words to Mindcircus.

Now I have class on 0 sleep until like, 12pm which is teh l0se.

I have tons o video. It was a good set and a great night. I will post video and full review later. One question.... How did yall like the lasers?

Btw: If you couldnt tell, you got to hear a set done on Albelton live. The live remixing sure was great.

Posted by Ted Promo on Nov-10-2005 13:27:

I had a funny feeling it was Ableton since it sounded perfect and there was an Apple laptop up in the booth.

And the lasers were pretty rawkin'. The Eleven 50 needs some more, but I was definitely feeling them. The one thing I didn't get was the little thing on the ceiling above the main dance floor that was doing weird visuals... that no one could see since they weren't spending their time looking at the ceiling

The lasers were sweet. I loved them so much; I went upstairs and just like stood there, staring at them, especially the one really bright one that made the shapes and stuff. Everything was amazing.

Lol, so true. I noticed the same thing; it was kinda funny.

I noticed the visuals thing, I don't think it added much (it was a little more visible from the second floor, but I only stayed there for about 10 minutes), but it didn't detract so I don't mind.

Too many JAVI's? Naw, there's a javio and a javie, lol. I've had this name for about 7 years; I can't change

That was the hardest venue i have ever put a water cooled laser in. Glad you enjoyed it. Time for sleep..... At least i am back in charlotte

You've had your TA name since October mein Freund!

And your sig about there being no spoons auf deutsch is quite troubling

were you that guy that was fixing that one set of lasers up near the booth early on in PvD's set?

Posted by AlokGT on Nov-10-2005 13:57:

I don't think the version of 'The Other Side' was the deep dish remix, sounded like a breaks remix. And i think the mix of 'Without You Near' was the g&d mix, not the coldharbour.

I think it was a mashup of both the Deep Dish and the breaks version, and I don't think I ever specified the version of Without You Near spun as we all know PvD probably wouldn't spin the Coldharbour version. It was definitely the G&D version.

yeah man. That show owned. I can't wait to see him again at Ultra . . . as long as he is there and doesn't pull one of his infamous cancel routines.

PVD.. oh PVD....he's a legend.... what a great night... =)

Posted by phonk64 on Nov-10-2005 17:05:

Well, i'll be the first person to say that I actually thought his set was boring and uninspired.

He would build and build and then instead of keeping the energy high, he'd slow the tempo down. WTF

I left at 1:30, it wasn't worth being super tired at work (where i'm posting from).

If it got better later in his set, thats cool, but his first half was pitiful, imo.
