The "Official Anti-depressants thread"
So theres loads of other official threads about drugs...so why not this one.
Anyone in here on Anti-depressants? How long for? What type?
Any bad experiences with certain drugs?
Heres what i've been on.
Sept 03 - Feb 04: Prozac 20mg
Feb 04 - August 04: Seroxat 30mg (Paxil in the US i think)
August 04 - Sept 05: Prozac 40mg
Sept 05 - Nov 05: Mirtazapine 15mg
Nov 05 - Present: Mirtazapine 30mg
When pannic attacks occur Diazepam 5mg
In my honest opinoin, one of my GPs (who i no longer see) should be sued. He gave me Seroxat when i was 17. I have been told it should not be used with young men under 21 as it has strong links to Suicide rates in young men. Those 6 months were terrible, mood swings every few hours, cravings for the drug, wanting to kill myself...horrible thing.
Mirtazapine seems alright since its a SSNI (I think) rather than an SSRI which is what all the other Anti-d's that i took were.
Jackson, have you tried Effexor ?

| Originally posted by BTG so this might be a dumb question, but why the hell would you take it then? i'm very much against anti depressants becasuse its like people give up and they think the only way they can function is with the aid of some kind of miracle drug. and especailly if it isn't doing any good...i duno all the details so i wont judge, but i mean |
have you ever tried e? i bet it would help alot more than what ever you're taking now. and its not addictive, just one dose could set you straight.

| Originally posted by Jackson Ian, how did u react to Seroxat?...i think its the same as Paxil just a different name. Like Fluoxetine is the uk version on prozac. Do u still suffer from panic attacks now? Oh btw on top of these pills i go to councelling once a week for an hour and also sometimes see a specialist once every 3 months or so for check ups on my status and the tablets. Anyone go to this kind of thing? |

have you ever done E ian?
i did it quite a bit this summer, but i've stopped since then, but i've benifited greatly from it. i dont need to do it again, i've had one sitting on my desk for over a month, and i'm just waiting for an appropriate time to use it. you dont NEED to be on E for e to be helping you. E just shows you what life should be like without all the bullshit in the way. when you sober up, you still feel the same way about what you've just expierenced, but you're not like O_O woahhhhhhh.. you're just normal and sober.
I've took Effexor for about 3 years now (to control panic attacks) and it's been very good. They've all but stopped now. The only thing is if you miss one or two doses you feel like shit - dizzy, nauseous, headache......feels like a bad hangover.
anti depressants don't work. i try and kill myself when i'm not on them. then i cut my arms up when i am on them. i'm in the process of cutting my back open

effexor december 2002-june 2003.
alprazolam- dont remember when i started it, think early 2002-now.
that works the best for me. liked effexor at first, then i just felt blank. and stopped taking it, i dont go the anti depressant route anymore.
When I was in college, I was on an antidepressant called Jaegermeister.
It worked wonders. I'm fine, now.
