how about you guys just dont over sell an event? this is the second time in 2 years or so that this has happened at roxy for pvd. i got in last night but was one of the many in feb a few years back that had to go home with a ticket in hand after waiting in line for 2 hours in the snow. so i can definitely relate to how they must have felt last night.

i nearly flew over from the UK for this, lucky i didn't if people with tickets weren't let in i feel sorry for you guys

made-event: how about you guys show some respect then and dont oversell tickets?

Because you know guys like pvd and tiesto will oversell the damn place. How about putting some effort then and getting a larger venue.

PvD shows always are overpacked. nothing anyone can do about it

I would like to give some respect to Made Event & Roxy Staff and owners.

They brought Paul to a large venue with great sound and lighting.

Despite the rumours last week of the club being closed early and only over 21 they got the show going.

All the staff was very courteous. There was an outdoor smoking area. There was running cold water in the bathrooms.

Complaints:
Way, way, too hot on the floor.
Gum. Why weren't we allowed to bring in gum?

Maybe because gum would be hard to remove off the dance floor? Could be a good assumption.

I saw some guy getting kicked out when I was on line. Was being pushed by a guard. AFTER paying $50 to get in, way fucked up

official annoucement from Made about Friday:

http://www.madeevent.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=6171

quote:
Made Event would like to sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment caused. We did not sell more tickets nor have any more patrons in the venue than we've had at our previous PvD shows at the Roxy. Other shows, in fact where the Fire Department came and did not see a potential problem. If you notice on some of the message boards or on the review at Groovanauts.com, there are reports from people who attended stating that there was dancing room and that it was not as crowded as other events, or as Paul's last event at Crobar. To set the record straight; the Fire Department gave us permission to begin letting people in again after a little time had passed. As we were about to begin doing so, for reasons unbeknownst to us, the police instructed us to clear the street and not to let anymore people in for the rest of the night even though we were clearly way below capacity at that point.

Unfortunately this situation was out of our hands, and selling as many tickets as we normally do, we did not anticipate this problem. Again, our sincerest apologies. We acknowledge that the price of the refunded ticket does not take care of the disappointment, especially for people that traveled from afar. Needless to say this situation is completely unacceptable to us and we will be looking at ways to ensure that this never happens in the future.

Kind Regards,
Made

I think Made did a great job BUT, I think that they should have turned away anyone at the door that DID NOT have a ticket that would have made this problem a lot less. IMO

Posted by pvd420 on Nov-14-2005 22:52:

i agree....sorry for the criticism before. i assumed that they oversold the event again which was wrong on my part. there was room inside roxy, although not that much last friday.

this looks like a miscommunication between the fire marshall, the police, the roxy staff, and made events, or somewhere in there.

what needs to be changed is that one line should be just for people with hard tickets and email printouts, and the other should be for people with no tickets at all. being made to stand in line across the street with an email printout is bullshit. email printouts and hard tickets are both tickets. they both are scanned as a patron enters the club. the people that are dumb enough not to buy tickets ahead of time should be the ones waiting across the street in line for an extended period of time.

again good job on made's part for pulling this event off given everything that happened the past couple of weeks. hopefully this will be the last time and things of this nature happen for quite a while (although i am sure that something will occur again in the future no matter how well planned something is).

haha, he was probably being kicked out for drugs, in which case he is a lucky SOB that they didn't hand him over to the police.

on topic, I don't get how people can complain about not being let in at like 1 or 2 am on a PVD night. People should know by now, get there early, especially if they are opening early like they did that night.

FUK MADE EVENTS THEY HAVE MADE ME WAIT FOR 2.5 HRS FOR PVD ROXY A FEW YEARS AGO, ALWAYS CHARGE TOO MUCH/18+ PARTIES/OVER-CROWD EXCEPT FOR LAST WEEKS PVD BECAUSE COULDNT. SO INCONCLUSION FUK MADE-EVENTS

Shouldn't the full price be refunded (including ticket surcharges) since it wasn't a ticketholder's fault? A friend of mine just returned tickets to Satellite... and they refused to refund the ticket surcharge fee.

Ticketweb gave a refund for the full price including their ridiculous surcharges.

i was there two years ago with a ticket in hand, getting turned away after waiting a couple of hours in the snow. that one sucked, but i did use the ticket the next time pvd came out. anyway, i never understood why they would let in non-ticketholders before they would allow in ticketholders. people like made say that it is out of their control, but i think thats horseshit; everyone is just looking to get as much money as possible out of us. the bottom line is that if you have a ticket in hand (email printouts included), you should not be treated the same as someone without a ticket (who i think should have to wait until everyone else gets in). in fact, because of my experience a couple of years ago, i just dont buy tix online anymore, since i know that it doesnt help anyway; instead i make sure to get there really early, and i know i will get in (it hasnt not worked yet; by the way, i know that i am taking advantage of the situation, even though its not something i agree with, but i have to do it if thats what they make me do.) i have always wondered why they treat clubs with worldclass djs differently than concerts at small venues, as opposed to just treating them like over popular clubs (it is more like a concert because if pvd or tiesto wasnt there, the huge line of people wouldnt be either). anyways, this kind of thing makes me laugh, and i am glad that i didnt end up going.

lesson #1 good job! This applies to any event or anything you do in life. Everyone goes through their first experience, but if you want to make sure you're getting in, get there early!
