Ableton 5 And CPU !!
Hello,
right now I'm working on a track in Ableton 5 and I use some VST plugins. The problem is that when I press Play the CPU load jumps to 100 % and I can't hear nothing, so I have to render the track to hear something.
I use a computer with 1.7 gh Celeron, 768 MB memory and enough free disk space.
Do you think the problem is the processor or my rubbish integrated sound card?? What do I need to replace : the 1.7 Celeron or the Sound Card??
Thanks
get rid off that fuckin onboard sound. its useless for producing with any program.
get an ASIO soundcard

Buy a G5
Theres a disk cache clear function in the preferences menu. The cache can get clogged up if you have timestretching on any of your tracks. God knows why it doesnt clear itself, but that sometimes helps if its a hard-disk read/write issue as opposed to CPU load. Try freezing instruments too and RTFM as there are a few tips on performance in there.
Diginut is right, you'll need to replace both before you can do something decent. Celeron is fine to type a lettre but for serious apps like producing and gaming you should avoid it.
Yeah, replacing them both is the solution.I was thinking to replace first the sound card with an M-Audio Audiophile 192, and then to buy maybe a Pentium 4 3.0.What do you say about the M-Audio??
