how much time a week do you spend on production?
hey guys...yeah i don't post in here much these days, but i dunno i was just curious about how much time on average do you think you spend a week tinkering and working on production?
not nearly as much as i'd like to.
I'am probley on the computer at least 3 hours an evening after work and I have Fridays off from this week which will be dedicated to production based work and weekends are the same. This might seem a little excessive but I've my pc for about a year and previously only got about an hour a week on it due to my old job taking up far to much time (Still It payed for it).
At the moment I'am not really doing production work as such but getting the pc just orginized and getting ready to wipe all the data from the C drive with the recovery disc.
Also I'am spending a lot of time going through samples and getting to know atmosphere and kontakt 2 ( This is the new love in my life desite the libary discs not working )
After this is complete I'll spend my time writing with fl studio
I'll spend anywhere from 1 to 14 hours a day on production depending on my schedule and how strongly I feel about a track Im working on ...
Not nearly as much as i should. I'd like to spend at least 2-4hrs a day on it, but when i get to do it something always happens.
Last week i was getting in the zone when i get an ear infection out of the blue (Doctor said it was due to wearing headphones for a long time) ... haven't touched my DAW for a week...
WHOA!! ZERO!! SAME HERE!! I have had an ear infection for over a month and antibiotics haven't touched it!!
I'm completely deaf in the left ear for now cuz it's so plugged. Do you think its headphones!? I just started using them and, like you, I was spending about 3-4 hours a night on my productions....
Between 1 and 4 hours a night depending on how spent I am after work, and whether or not I have something going I'm really getting into.
I'd have to say it varies actually for alot of reasons, but on average 1 to 4 hours a night.

I've been producing some form of EDM for quite some time... but for trance, I'd say about 10 hours per weekend.
Full time job for me pretty much... I work on music as often as a can or until I get burnt out, in which case, I take a short vacation away from it lol.
1 hour a week average a year : \
when making music was fun, average 2 hours a day for 3 years
2/3 hours every day for about 5 years now.
Only not when I'm at my girlfriend's place and on holiday.
And when I'm back I always got most inspiration.
Maybe a funny thing: the main melody of Endorphine was made on the beach in Greece where I wrote down the notes and played it back here in the Netherlands with a breakbeat loop.
depends. i havent sit an hour for a week but before that it was about 4-5 hours. and thats how much its gonna be in less than a month again.

All depends on my mood. I'd say on average 10-15 hours per week. Sometimes more if I'm in a groove and things are flowing nicely. Sometimes a lot less if I'm burnt out and need a break. I end up playing videogames or something in the downtime until I'm ready again.
Damn Digital Aura,
A month ? I've had the infection for just over a week now, and the anti-biotics started kicking in today i could hear (muffled tho) again trough my right ear , and the pain is less ...
I only got anti-biotic pills for 5 days worth and anti-biotic eardrops + painkillers with anti infectant.
And yeah, de Dr said it was common due to headphones, mostly those small in ear ones though.
Hope you get better soon.
sorry to go off topic - but it is a reason why we can't produce for the moment...
..sorry to hijack here...ZERO..I just went to the doc and he says it isnt an infection...he's baffled and now I have to go to an EAR specialist!
I mentioned about the earphones and he said you were right, but in my case it sounds more ... i dunno... serious? Hope its something they can fix!!
Anyways, thanks for the insight!

I had similar problem in my left ear......turned out to be a build up of wax....went to hospital and they sucked it all out....told me to pour a couple of drops of olive oil into my ear each day (that's not a joke BTW) olive oil works wonders.
I've had wax build up in my ears before, mainly because I work in a noisy industrial environment.
Olive oil works good, so does hydrogen peroxide, I wash my ears out with peroxide and a bubble syringe and than rinse them out with warm water about once a week.
When I did get an ear blockage from wax I had to go see a specialist and they had to dig it out, they told me it was from loud noise levels and ear phones.
around 20 + hours a week, depending on how busy I am with school
When I'm actively working on a track, probably 15-20 hours a week.
