PHOTOSHOP GURUS: How to do this effect?
I can't figure it out!
I can get the images similar, but never this clear and sharp...

It could possibly have been retraced in Illustrator. That would be the cleanest thing to do.
Now in regards to photoshop
Switch the image to Grayscale mode.
Now adjust levels. Left slider should be brought to around 33
Middle slider it depends
Right Slider 100 and below.
These values vary from one image to another
That's pretty much the basic idea.

I'm so confused. 
Easy
first
CTRL + SHIFT + U (if you want it to be black & white)
then
Image => Levels => Contrast & Brightness...test different values...the darker image with highter contrast, the sharper edges between white and black
OR
Filter => Artistic => Cutout...fool around with the levels, just experiment...
