Oh? Funky fresh disco french chicago tech house?

That's my fave!

I have a friend in Beijinx that spins tribal polka eclectic clash 70's retro drum breaks.

I've only been to one club in in Hong Kong, Club Punang. The only things they spin there are prime young 5-13 year old girls.

In Asia you either be at Goa (India) or nowhere else.

It will pay you more than Hong Kong and also looks much better on you CV.

Im british but was born in Hong Kong and have lived there my whole life. Now im studying up in Birmingham for Uni. Will be going back for christmas where we have Ferry Corsten and Eddie Halliwell booked for a chiristmas eve rave.

Generally, the main nightspot is known as LKF (Lan Kwai Fong). The best clubs there are Dragon - i, Volar, Drop and Sugar. Try getting in touch with these places if your interested in trying to playt in one of them. Volar would be my best bet and over the last few weeks have hosted dj's such as Miss Kitten. They tend to bring dj's over with a more unusual sound, something different to the mostly hip hop and r&b stuff you hear everywhere else.

Out of curiosity. who's the contact you know in HK? I know quite a lot of the main promoters and club owners in HK so maybe i could put you in contact with someone.

PM me for more specific information.

It's always nice to read what some horribly ignorant people have to say

And for Funken Louis

There's not a terribly vaste scene in HK but there's some strong things going on. It's more on the "undeground" side of things. There's a solid clubbing forum for HK ( also in english actually ) but I can't seem to locate it .
Get in touch with http://www.rnrasia.com/
Ricky Stone who lives in Asia runs it.

The forum your talking about is hkclubbing.com run by a guy called Nick. Go there to find out all the latest event happening in HK over the next few weeeks

gotta be honest, but the HK music scene is lame ass.

it was good like 5-7 years back when places like manhattan westworld, club star, star east, ce top, and others were around. Now everyone wants to be in the business there.. Volar is overhyped, clubs play too much hip hop, what used to be manhattan (club Ing or whatever it is now) is filled with boppers, Hei Hei is all wannabe hongkie ravers, ...

I think when Way Out East, Manhattan, kinda died down and the money hungrey clubs came about, the scene flopped bigtime..

Thats my 2 cents!

definatly agree with you there. When there isnt a big name dj playing in hk, there is little to no dance seen in terms of EDM music. Everyewhere is just flodded with hip hop and r&b. I was too young to go to parties when dj's like pvd, sasha, oakie and digweed were here every other weekend, and when there were quality clubs such as ce top and pink around.

Its starting to get a bit better but everyone seems to be too money orientated and the police dont really help the problem by disallowing and scaring off venue owners from hosting parties.
