Domain Names Theft (update)
I'm pissed motherf*ckers stole my domain name. Few days ago I decided to get a new domain name, I went to a register site, searched on it and it wasn't taken. Wow I couldn't believe it! So I design a business card. I'm not in a rush to register it since what are the chances that someone would think of the same name in a day or two? I go to register it today and guess what someone registered it yesterday.
I look up who registered it and its one of those companies who register mass domain names and then resells them. Obviously they have bot that records searches for unregistered names and then sends them to this company for resale. This should be illegal! Don't make the same mistake I made if you find a free domain name, take it right away or reseller company will steal it.
He who hesitates is lost.
The early worm gets eaten!
What was your domain name going to be called?
Bald-nude-kneecaps.com?

yea I create a list of names I would want. So when I search for them I register right there. Im always paranoid about these kinda things.
shit. is that how its done?
i came up with a kick ass domain name the other name. checked it. wasnt taken. few days later, it was gone too.
grr.. fuck. that sucks. thanks for the tip dawg.

Its all good I found a similar name and registered that. I sent Versign email and their reply was 'first come first serve'. If it isn't a trademarked business name like Walmart then tough luck.
They could easily stop the practice of cybersquatting if they forbid the transfer of domain names. That would remove the incentive of ppl who buy up and hold domains names with the intent to resell. But I realized that Versign makes a lot of money from cybersqautting so they wouldn't want to stop it.
so what was/is the domain name ffs?
i can sell you mine if u want

i cant believe those ******s make money out of that, who the hell buys domains from others? That would be wasting your money, just make up another name. A lot are gone, but there are still a lot left.
On the other hand, if i could buy sex.com for 1000$ i would buy it any day. (and sell it for 1000000$ hehe)
I remember back in 1994, i had microsoft.com... Then a guy who called himself Billy wanted to buy it for 100$. I thought it was a good deal.
interesting update:
After this whole brew-ha I wrote a scathing letter to Verisign and threaten litigation against the register. I never thought anything would come of it so I moved on with another name.
This afternoon I relayed the story to my brother and told him to look up the stolen address. Turns out my email must have had the desired effect. The person unregistered the name! Wow this is the first time I have ever won a battle with a pen. I like to thank TA ppl I have had flame wars with. You have taught me the art of verbal warfare.
