Worm Popper Energy 52 - Cafe del Mar

Why do people consider this the greatest trance song ever made? I mean sure its good. I just dont see what the hype is all about..

Posted by Ek0nomik on Nov-16-2005 02:55:

It's good.

Posted by OneTranceMind on Nov-16-2005 02:58:

Posted by Aiwendil on Nov-16-2005 03:28:

I dunno, since it's not a very good trance song.

Posted by djallure on Nov-16-2005 03:29:

I wouldn't call it the best per say, but I guess maybe you had to have lived it.

Oh, cut it out.

Endurance and legacy. It's been remixed over and over, but never gets tired. It's a "theme" that's lasted longer than any other in the genre. Whether from quality or simple hype, you decide. I think it's both, but head toward the former.

+1
and the fact that it was originally released back in 1993 it stood the test of time. that is what makes a classic.
I doubt that many of the tunes made today could do that.

I don't mind your defense of "true" trance; that serves a really valuable purpose here, and I wish you'd voice it more often.

I was complaining about your loaded sentence, which was obviously meant to provoke those with a sloppy definition of "trance". That's not educating, it's just poor entertainment.

Maybe they provoked me, ever thought of it that way? What it was "meant" to do was express my "opinion". What you "incorrectly" "infer" from my statement is not "my fault". And do I look like your damn teacher?

Posted by Cobalt on Nov-16-2005 08:25:

I didn't say you must voice it more often. That implies a teacher. I simply said I wish you'd voice it more often. You don't have to.

Instead you're just making lazy potshots.

True classic, great remixes

Posted by Hauken on Nov-16-2005 10:10:

It's a nice tune for sure.

Most people have heard it at many many special occations on various events, venues, countries etc and it's special to most people, when it gets played it brings back memories of former times and parties .

Same goes for ex. For An Angel.

I like it, it's not _the_ tranceomfgtuneoftheworld but it's among the tops ever made.

Posted by Dj_Es-Dva on Nov-16-2005 10:52:

i love it though when i compare it too other "great" trance classics i do think this would have to be close, for personal choice id also say oxygene 8 or for an angel, though they never got as big.

Posted by Christian . on Nov-16-2005 11:08:

It's a classic tune, quite "simple" but really OMG...

holy crap i didn't know it was that old, now i like it even more.

the first version i heard of it was a Moby remix
I rarely remember the first time i hear a song, but this one for some reason just hits you funny

nope. you are propably refering to a mix CD Sven Vth did together with Moby back in 1996. on that CD is Energy 52 - Caf Del Mar (Porte de bagnolet remix) which is a remix by Ralf Hildenbeutel. Neither Sven Vth or Moby ever remixed Caf Del Mar.
