Airport shuttle
Does anybody know a good shuttle service to get to Pearson airport? I kinda gotta get there in 3 weeks, and I don't really wanna pay too much (traveller's budget and all that jazz). I'm basically looking for a van/bus style thing, but I'll take anything if the price is right.

GTAA Public Transit Info: http://www.gtaa.com/Index.aspx?Sid=...Node2.3.5&Tpl=1
Yeah, was looking through that site and that PDF, but they only have phone numbers mostly on the PDF. Plus it looks like most of the service providers are for areas a bit more on the GTA edge. I was more looking for stuff within the GTA (specifically North York).
Admittedly, I gave up looking through that PDF once I got to like the 3rd weblink, since none of the sites were helpful in the slightest (mainly because they don't seem to service the inner GTA).
Any other suggestions RJ?

Yeah, checked them out too. It's a bit of a struggle getting from Don Mills subway all the way down to Dundas station. Especially with a huge suitcase. I wouldn't mind being on the subway so much if the pickup point for that service wasn't much of a walk, but when I have to lug a suitcase and a snowboard bag both onto and off a subway, it makes it too much of a pain in the ass.
I was considering a door pickup service, as long as the fee was right. Or at least a spot that's close to subway pickup. I can handle being on the subway and walking around 100 odd metres. Anything more, and it's just too much of a struggle.
easy .. take the subway there.. oh wait.. this is Toronto ..

The theory's good, and I'm quite tempted.
However, keep in mind I gotta come from essentially Sheppard and Victoria Park, out to Don Mills subway station, then transfer to yonge, then get to the bus stops. Also keep in mind my giant suitcase and snowboard bag. Both of these things aren't small by any means, and carting them around whilst having to transfer between subways and buses makes it quite a difficult logistical task.
If transferring between 2 subway lines is too much of a hassle then I dunno what to suggest. Transfering lines isn't much of a problem...just take the elevator down to the Yonge Line.
Going to Union and then from the Royal York hotel is like...walking right across the street. You also have the option of going to Queen station and then walking west about 100metres to the Sheraton
Just fucking fly to the damnd airport Marcus. Jesus H. Christ. You make life so diffcult. I'd TOTALLY break out my angel-wings for this occaison just for the simple fact of how easy it would be.
Now, dammit, pull a Matt Daemon (Loki?!?!?) in Dogma, break out/open up your wings (dont get them shot off) and fly your ass there to the airport.
So. Much. SIMPLER.

Why doesn't he just teleport there???
Is pushing a fucking button so hard?!
i remember how flying from Sevilla to Barcelona was faster than getting from my house to Pearson Airport
^^^^
Dude u live in Scarborough...thats like in Asia man! Obviously it takes longer
Are u going back to Australia for good, Marcus?

dood. you can get there via TTC. take the subway to kipling and then catch the 192 airport rocket express. it goes to all terminals. you can get to pearson from anywhere on the subway for only $2.50
it takes a while, but is cheaper than a shuttle.
I don't think you guys grasp the enormity of my luggage...
I'm not sure of the dimensions exactly, but I'd guess it's at least 1 metre, by maybe 75 by like 50, or something like that. When I put it on the scales coming to Canada, I think it was something like 35+ kg. The size of a typical snowboard bag is about 170cm long, and isn't exactly the easiest shape to work with, even if it has wheels on the bottom.
So basically, I have two huge bags that roll on the ground, not to mention my actual carry on bag, which will be loaded with stuff. It doesn't leave much room for manoeuvreability, and especially on the subway system. I know it's not all that hard to transfer on the subway normally (I take it every day to work up to Finch anyway), but trying to do it with so much crap is a little bit of a struggle. Same applies for crossing the street. Broken pavement is your worst enemy when you've got two rolling bags of luggage.
As for flying, the extra weight would strain my wings too much. I've already over used them this year, and my doctor told me I need to hold off on using them except in emergencies, for fear of occupational overuse syndrome.
As for teleporting, there's a sign on my end of the button that says "out of order". I'd rather trust the sign and take my chances elsewhere. Especially when it's got to do with a teleporter.
Nat: Yes, I will be, once I finish my ski season in Fernie.
Lisa: I'll come back and visit for like two days after I'm done with my season if that helps (mostly to pick up crap that I'm leaving here eg business shirts and whatnot). Then I fly back to Aus for a good fair while (at least in theory).

| Originally posted by marcusus Well, you'd best take into consideration that I get back to TO on a Sunday night, and fly out on Tuesday morning... I doubt I'll be up for much partying, if any at all. That entire last week at Fernie will be a mess, since Australia day is in that last week I'm there, then I've gotta party hard for the last weekend I'm in Fernie, so that pretty much writes off the rest of the time I'm in Canada. And yes, I'll be at scumfrog. The way you guys keep going on about 'em makes it hard to avoid. |
Hey mate, I just caught the airport express last week. It costs $15.50 but is worth every cent if you have tonnes of gear or need to get to the airport at a ridiculous hour. My plane left at 7:15am and it was pouring rain on the day I left so the airport shuttle was the obvious choice.
It all depends on how keen you are to save a few dollars and whether you like carting your luggage around the city.
