Changing tempo in FL 5?

Yea im having some difficulties in FL Studios! How do i change tempo for only 1 channel, and not the whole damn track?

Posted by Low Profile on Nov-19-2005 13:32:

hmmm.... I'm not so sure you can do that... but wait for the fruity freaks to give you a definite answer

Posted by Ex- on Nov-19-2005 14:43:

Owh, then let the fruity geeks come around

Posted by Aquarian on Nov-19-2005 14:58:

So you want a channel that plays faster than others? How does that work?

Posted by retiro on Nov-19-2005 14:58:

Can't do it!

Posted by Ex- on Nov-19-2005 15:01:

I want like a melody building slowly up, starting from lets say 110 bpm and then building up to 140 bpm

If the base sequence was at 137bpm for example and you wanted to increase the bpm of a melody??? Would imagine it'd sound out of time and just plan horrible!

That wasnt my plans My intro has just faded out, and then the melody should be building up slowly, just the melody, no bass or anything, you with?

You should still be changing the tempo of the whole track, not just a single channel. The fact that no other instruments are playing at the time isn't really relevant.

Just automate the tempo in FL like you'd automate any other parameter.

just for the record 99% of all Electronic Dance Music records keeps the same speed through the track..

and yeah, ur better of changing the tempo of the whole track..

oh! that why every track sounds the same after a while

right click the tempo and select edit events like ou would with anything else. btw you can see whats the tempo you are drawing in edit events in the upper left part of the window. ofcourse that changes tempo of the whole song. if you want to automate only one channel youll have to render it (automated as you want) to audio track.

Hey. If you can explain the use for this (cause I havent the foggiest of ideas...), I can probably tell you how to do it differently without wanting to change the tempo.

Cheers,
Zac

This is what i wanna do something like, its a .rar file

Tempo

Also, if anybody can tell me where i can get a VST for that piano sound, id like that

Posted by IDarkISwordI on Nov-19-2005 20:56:

Hey. Now I'm confused . The tempo in that track never changes. Its constant from the beginning...

Cheers,
Zac

Posted by Ex- on Nov-19-2005 21:21:

Hmm well, it sounds to me like it changes How do i make it like in the track?!

Posted by PDM on Nov-21-2005 02:03:

Just automate the tempo, doing right click then edit events, it will change the tempo of the whole track, but if you are playing the melody solo, it won't be a problem. One thing tho, make sure you will not use audio LOOPS of any kind, because when you change the tempo they will be time stretched.

If you are talking about change the time signature, like Adam White did in his track Ballerina, It can not be done in FL Studio.

i think your mistaking the difference of time between notes as tempo changes. maybe also because the velocity of the piano also kind of builds and climbs. this could all be done in piano roll i'd think.

:X

The tempo never changes in that track. That track is all about slowly turning up the velocity/volume of each note and changing the placement of the notes. For instance they'll start playing with a C5 for 2 beats and then 4 measures later they'll play the same C5 but for only 1 beat. It's all about the length of the notes.

Posted by Ex- on Nov-21-2005 18:08:

Can someone then try to explain how i do that

Posted by djlogik on Nov-21-2005 18:10:

The note placement is all based on you, but the velocity changing is done like this...go to your piano roll and for the first note you place go down to the bottom where you have the green vertical lines and start it off really small. From there just make each new note a little higher than the previous. You'll figure out exactly how you want it when you play it with the rest of the mix. Good luck.

Posted by Ex- on Nov-21-2005 18:12:

Yea but what about the notes? It sounds like theres getting more and more notes, so do i just delete some, and then as it moves further into the melody set them back again?

Posted by djlogik on Nov-21-2005 20:29:

You my friend...seem like you should read a little more on music composition or at least read more about music theory. They either make the notes longer or there are less notes. If you don't understand this then you should really do some reading first instead.

you can do it the hard way and figure out the math and where to put your midi notes. or grab ableton and load up your patch and midi files and then just record in real time and fiddle witht he bpm. bounce it down and then load it back up in fl.
