Is it normal...

to have around 3-4000k on your VISA at all times, without spending it all?

I'm rather suprised over my self controle. I rarely buy stuff, and I rarely want stuff.

Normal?

i have 5000 on my mastercard and i maybe only use a hundred a month

Posted by LuNaSeA on Nov-19-2005 22:12:

it's good actually. credit card debt really does suck..

ot: the best thing to do if you want to build your credit is to just make small purchases and pay off the full balance every month.

agreed. if you sit there with your credit car without spending a dime you're APR will never go down and you'll have no credit history. When I got my first credit card (i got it along with my ATM card from Apple Bank, for students with a really low APR) and the women told me that having a credit card and not using it is worse than not having one at all, towards your credit history.

i have one, maxed it ou t then forgot about it for 2 years.... man i am living to regret that one......

but then the company sends me a new card? i was like wtf, i owed you guys 5000 bucks for 2 years and the only way you found me was cause you found my grandpas number in teh phone book lol.

Dude 5k is nothing to them, they waiting till your 60k in debt, then they will take you to the cleaners. Thats why they give you a new card, they know you will just spend it.

Normal? Maybe. Good? Yes.

My limit's about 10k, and I've never used more than a small fraction of that. They just keep raising it. I guess they hope maybe I'll overspend and they'll get to charge me some interest. Not gonna happen, though.

Posted by SidMl on Nov-20-2005 00:49:

They increase the limit because they know you're probably going to be good for it and might need it.

When I was in college I usually used to spend $200-300 a month on my credit card but used to keep on asking them to increase.

Twice a year I'd go on vacations and spend like $3k in a month - that's when the higher limits come handy.

Now that I've started working, I spend a lot more and put pretty much everything on the cards but pay it off in full every month. I'm addicted to collecting points & miles.

Hmmm... My visa isn't a credit card. It just holds the money on a certain account. The rest I have on a high interest account. Maybe it's a waste having cash on the visa account, when I get crappy interest and seldom use it :P

Posted by raph93 on Nov-20-2005 12:55:

i have 45k on my accounts, and i use only maybe 300/month

Posted by Mindphaser on Nov-20-2005 14:04:

i don't think so...it's too long & hard to earn

Posted by Carriegsxr6 on Nov-20-2005 15:07:

If it really bothers you and you dont think you ever intend on using the 5K, then the best thing you should do is have them lower your limit. this way it the tempation is removed.
