The latest Copycat track

Scott Mac - Darkstone

Rips its main melody from

Stoneproof - everythings not you (quivver mix)

Why Why Why name a track as your own when its so blatently obvious its note for note the same as another track.

I cant see the logic ???

I can see the logic, they think that people will recongnize their song because of the original they ripped off. Definetly not right but I'm pretty sure it's their logic. I've heard of producers though going after other artists though that ripped off their melodies so if it is close enough I'm sure Quivver/Tilt could go after Scott Mac.

Errr, that's not a copycat. It's called sampling, and they have the original artist's permission.

you can add stuff here as i will sort it

Posted by dj_lane on Nov-20-2005 19:32:

Those producers obviously have no talent to create their own original works.

That is technically incorrect.

Goldenscan 'Only With You" lifts its samples straight from a track called 'Only You' by Praise, where Miriam Stockley was the lead singer. The track was originally released in 1991. It has been used by a few tracks and has been made popular in recent times through TVadvertising etc

The guys from Atlantis originally used the sample without concent (as im lead to believe...naming no names ;-) ) and they were subsequently sued in court.

We were fully aware that the sample has been used, but it was fitting to the track (I hope you would agree) and the main substance is that far removed from Atlantis 'Fiji', that we saw no harm in using it without treading on anyones toes. Our version uses licensed original parts from the masters as provided by the owners.

that was my first thought too, since jason seems like a pretty clever guy (although he sucks at IDing ), but maybe he's only heard the chorus from gimme gimme gimme or something.
