So, whatever happened to the great Tiesto takeover of America?

I seem to recall earlier this year, in preperation for his 'In Concert' tour across the USA, there was a lot of hype about him 'breaking dance music to America'(despite the fact a number of acts in the past had tried and failed anyways). Yet, after the LA show, I don't think we've heard of much from it. Did the other two shows go forward? What happened to the Great Tiesto Takeover? Inquiring minds wish to know.

The gods of electronic music sent forth Hurricane Wilma to prevent his invasion.

EDM will never takeover America, no matter who the DJ... rap, rock and pop will always be at the top.

Depends how commercial someone wants to get...

If The Prodigy couldn't make dance music have any long-lasting appeal in the US, Tiesto didn't have a hope in hell, particularly as the guy has no marketable image whatsoever.

there is a TiC in new years in vegas is there not?

Really wouldn't surprise me though to be flipping through the channels one day and Tiesto is on MTV...he's commercial enough and even though that would put him at an alltime low, I can unfortunetly see it possibly happening.

In all honesty, to that I say: good. I hope EDM never becomes mainstream. Can you imagine what would happen if every Joe and Jane Shmoe got into the music? It would only dilute the quality and make it all generally worse. I don't mean to sound elitist but the fact is that most people just aren't cut out for this kind of music - or this music isn't cut out for most people. Whichever.

Since there's a thread on Tiesto already, I wont start another one but who here thinks Tiesto is a HOUSE dj???????

Reason being for this STUPID question is b/c I was on myspace and saw "his" profile and he has his genre of music listed as House. I questioned this in a comment (which has now been deleted by "him"). For one, I highly doubt its Tijs on myspace and secondly IF for any odd reason he finds spare time for myspace and it is him - what a fuck for deleting my post. Glad he's no.2 - hopefully he'll continue to climb DOWN the ladder.

That myspace is fake.

The Miami TIC was rescheduled to a date I can can now attend. I know it's nothing like the Gelredome, but I'm still excited to go.

out of 4 TIC only LA went through, the other ones were cancelled because of hurricanes and U2 playing in washington the day before TIC, the one in Miami was re-schedule for January and the one for Vegas is still a go.

What century are you in???

Tiesto has been on MTV for about 3 years.
