Whats wrong with some people?
People are always bashing Tiesto, Armin, and other bigger DJ's, they're blind to the music. Face it, those who do this are those who dont want to jump on the popularity bandwagon because the more popular an artist is, the more people who heard that artist, therefore, the more people will critize your artist, which people are afraid of.
A good example is when people say Tiesto, people say: "ew"
Then when people say Gouryella, people say: "thats amazing!"
Just something to bring to the forefront.
now this is the worst thread ever. are you retarded, ignorant (not having read any of the hundreds of threads about the bashing of big dj's) or a troll?

i dont understand why ppl hate the big djs though sometimes.
is it the money? the fame? oh u say EDM suppose to be underground, and they are fuckin it up for other ppl cz its becoming mainstream?
i dont care about the money or the fame, but if these two factors mess up the artistic side of a dj, then ok.
but u cant prove that money and fame really messed up tiesto (if you think tiesto is messing up since 2001 and on).
people just dont change because of money and fame, taste changes.
Because big DJs tend to be arrogant, and tend to be over-rated, because there are many, many more talented people out there who don't get recognition, and don't act like Jesus.
it's very simple: many big dj's are hardly much better than the average unknown amateur. yet they're incredibly hyped and given incredible attention. therefore many people bash that hype.
haven't we seen this thread before?

Where does the original comic come from?
LOL
The first half was hilarious... but the latter half got kind of tired.
that cartoon makes more sense than most people on these boards.
LOL that comic was amazing. Especially liked the part about The KLF. Where does it originally come from?

also in reference to the comic, it disgusts me how 'trance' has gone so far beyond a word used to describe a musical style & made out to be some giant cult/movement. it seems like as a result, trance listeners end up getting tarred with the same brush; being labelled as dj-worshippers, there for the DJ rather than the music... simply because many of the worlds most-worshipped DJs play trance.
it's the same with any subgenre. you think a night advertised as a 'progressive & electronic house orientated rave goverened by selfless hedonism' with relatively unknown DJs, is going to attract as many punters as a night with "SASHA & DIGWEED PLAYING HERE" sprawled across the flyers? no. would a the turnout at a techno event be the same regardless of whether or not you booked the likes of cox/clarke/liebing/hawtin? no. names sell - end of story, just the trance ones sell more than the house/techno ones; akin to oranges selling more than apples.
regardless... i've been to many smaller trance-orientated events this year, headlined by small-name DJs i either know personally or have been recommended to by friends. i've also been to see tiesto at godskitchen, paul van dyk at passion, and global gathering/dancevalley - both dominated by bignames. the atmosphere at all of the aforementioned events was fantastic; whether the postive vibes were directed at the DJ, the music, the lasers, the crowd... it's all the same & i personally couldn't give two shits as to whether or not the DJ was being worshipped by others while i was there enjoying the music, dancing like no-one else was watching. providing everyone enjoys themselves, there's your atmosphere right there.
someone better +1 this or i'll go all emo and start crying. i seldom put this much mental effort into forum posts these days
