Selling 9 Seasons of Friends DVDs

Those of you on my MSN list already know...I'm selling the first 9 seasons of Friends on DVD. They're in excellent condition. I'm not selling them a season at a time...you take one, you take them all. I'm asking $250. Sounds like a lot...but remember you're getting 36 DVDs here.

I'd suggest eBay as well (the bidding for used merchandise typically starts no higher than 50% of the retail), and considering you're just one season shy of the box set, I'd suggest selling them separately. I understand your reasons for wanting to make just one transaction instead of 9, but where's the incentive to the buyer?

Anyway, good luck - don't mean to be a thread crapper or anything, just thought that info might be useful to you in case you don't get what you want.

No that would help Aaron. I don't really sell things ever, so I don't really know how to come about it. As for eBay...I have NO idea how to use eBay. Don't you have to pay to do that? And what if I don't end up agreeing with the price...can I back out and still not have to pay? Also...can I make it so that the deadlines for bids are all at the same time...so that way if I can't get rid of a few of them, I don't have to sell? I really don't want to be stuck with like 2 seasons and then not have enough money to buy the box set. Plus...do I have to pay to ship them out to ppl?

I just was checking through my email and what did I see? A message from Warner Brothers letting me know that Friends Season 10 Available on DVD this Tuesday!.

Whomever buys your entire 9 season set can now complete their collection with season 10!

To answer all your questions:

- You can make the deadlines on auctions whenever you want
- Buyers pay shipping unless you specify otherwise; it's in your best interest as a seller to find out the shipping costs and list them in the auction to avoid disputes later on
- You set the starting price and, optionally, a reserve price (the auction gets cancelled if the closing price is less than the reserve)
- eBay charges a listing fee and a final value fee; that's how they make money. However, these fees are essentially peanuts to you. If you sold an item for $20, the total cost to you would be $1.65 which leaves you with $18.35. For more information look at their Fee table.
- You should definitely NOT back out once the auction is finished; you'll receive negative feedback and as a result will have a lot of trouble selling anything else.

eBay can be a little complicated for new users, I didn't realize you'd never used it before so I understand why you're wary of that. It's actually a pretty good resource if used properly, although if you're not careful you could get scammed or lose money some other way.

Thanks for the tips Aaron. It's not a big concern of mine at the moment, b/c I don't have the time to even watch the new season of Friends even if I bought it. So my little advertisement was just in case any TAs wanted to buy them or knew anyone. I've had a couple leads.

I know Christmas time is coming up, so if I were to put them on eBay I don't think I'd make it in time for xmas...atleast the people wouldn't recieve the items by then. So maybe I'll wait until January...?

Thanks again for the tips though. I have a friend here in Windsor that has used eBay in the past I think...so maybe I could get him to help me out if I decide to do it!

you should only keep the first 3 seasons because those are the only ones that come close to being humorous

It's funny you say that because those are the only three I've bought so far for Jenny (who is a Friends fanatic)...I wanted to buy her all the seasons and when I saw this thread I was like WOW! I could even help a fellow TOTA out!

But I didn't want to buy seasons 1-3 again If you didn't want to go with ebay or you don't have any better offers, lemme know girl!

Hmmm....this may be an option...I cna sell 3 seasons on eBay or something and then sell the rest to you. I'll keep that option open. Ghetto_fab said that he may knwo 2 ppl that want to buy them off me...so once I hear back from him I'll let you know.

Hey Lisa,

I got an email saying that tomorrow Nov 21st is 10 cent listing day meaning it won't cost you nearly as much to list your item(s). Keep that in mind if you do want to list the DVD's separately on ebay since it may save you some money with selling.

Wow...thanks a ton...unfortuanatly I don't think I'll be ready to list them by then. I have to much work to do to figure out how eBay works and get everythign listed.
