who saw snl's house music skit?
Did you like it?? I thought Deep House Dish was funny. Other than that it's ok, SNL hasn't really been funny to me since the late 90s, but that might be my love for the past talking.
I saw it, but it only perpetuated the misconceptions 99.99% of the general population have against edm.

i didnt see it but would like to know about it...anyone care to give a quick synopsis??
Kenan Thompson hosted a mock tv show reviewing the last house songs or something. There were three songs/acts reviewed, and each one was stupider, cheesier, and more cliche than the next. It was most definitely not house, nor was it any other discernable genre besides "total crap." Think kylie minogue, bassfrogs or w/e, DJ Sammy, etc etc.

Don't really care much for SNL, they can make fun of dance music all they want, surprised there wasn't an ecstasy refrence or two thrown in

I'm surprised they didnt call it "Techno"
Will house music be the NEW techno music?!?!
Yeah, doing comedy by using complete stereotypes is never, ever funny. SNL's purpose should have been to spread the "real" house music to everyone rather than crack a few jokes at the common misconceptions. I personally feel it's their duty to make the music I like more accessible and therefore, more mass-marketable.
Damn you Saturday Night Live from not wavering from your original intentions to do the job of a wizened and bitter genre fan.... damn you.

I think its been about two years since I've seen sander, so I'm extra juiced up for it.
I liked that one skit a while back with a bedroom DJ only playing One More Time and faking an English accent. That there was some damned funny shit, mudder fugger.

At the moment MADtv is funnier than SNL. There was a short period where MAD was about as bad as SNL, but they've seemed to be getting funnier recently. MAD is for children? As opposed to the cerebral humor of "Debbie Downer"? Or how about when Tina Fey and Amy Poehler take a break to play with their Barbie dolls on Weekend Update? ME AN MY SON, WE LIKE TO SOAKA DA CORK AND MASSAGEA DA GRAPES! Please. SNL is a disgrace to itself at this point. The only cast member who isn't cheesy as hell is Darrell Hammond, and all of his impressions suck. The only funny impression i've seen from Hammond is Reverend Jesse Jackson. Of course, none of them know how to act, which isn't really neccessary, but it helps, and the acting standards have gone way down recently. Most of the time when I see a recent SNL i'm thinking that it could be a skit put on by my local Highschool drama class. MAD TV was at its funniest three or four seasons after it started, around '97 or '98, stayed that way for four more seasons, went down, and is coming back up now. SNL was at its funniest between the late 80's and late 90's sometime, and it has been downhill since then. Both really suck now compared to before. As for In Living Color, it was always funny, but then they knew when to quit.
SNL has made more peoples careers then any of the other sketch comedy shows put together! You better respect!
As far as the skit, would love to see it...can anybody post a link?
