spun for my first time today

well today was the day when the cartridges, mixer, records, turntables and everything came together and i spun for my first time..

IT WAS AWSOME!!!

i'm hooked! at first i was overwhelmed (connecting cartridge, balancing, and even finding out how to use the mixer), but now its getting easier...

i spun mostly tiesto (loves on fire, dilerium, urban train, etc...) it was awsome and the effects on the numark dxm06 mixer are awsome (for 200 bucks).

I have about 15 more records on the way and cant wait to play them too.

i do have one quick question before i go... if there are 2 tracks on 1 side of the record, how do u find the beginning of the 2nd track. it doesnt look like there is any space in between the tracks and if there is i cant find it.

i just want to thank everyone for helping out, answering questions, and giving advice.

thanks
bisco

ps, if you have any equipment maintenence, cleaning, or upkeep tips, feel free to leave em on this thread (eg: dont ever use xxxx to clean you records, use xxxx's) or (be careful when you xxxx because you could mess up xxxx)...

there should be a small space before the second track. a good way to find it is play the first track then see where it ends and where the second track starts up. Its great that u are finally getting to spin. Congrats dude. Fun aint it .

Use GruvGlide to clean records, best stuff out there.

Dino, how long did your dxm last before the faders started dieing?
Did you cover yours?

itll all seem easier later on...give it a good 2 months till u actually like what u mix.....b4 that ull just b gettin frustrated cuz ur 2nd song doesnt match ur 1st one's beats or u didnt eq it properly or the 1st song ended b4 u even started fading....stuff like that ull just hav to go thru....as we all do!

since u posted this thread....i think i should ask djs out thre to give some pointers on how to mix....itll b helpful to all the newbies

for me personally...i put the next track on cue with gain half way down, mid level all the way down....the low and hi up....that way i can hear the kick and snare properly without the distraction of other sounds
then i give it a little scratch(2nd record) and try to match the kicks so it doesnt sound awkward....when thas ready...i turn the low all the way down so the bass doesnt overpower the 1st song.....and when its time to mix..take the headphones off ....get rid off the cue and get the mid to slowly come in...then gain...and then gain out the other song and finally touch it up with the bass comin in from the second song.....not to mention the use of the sliders

anyone else has a comment?

About 14 months qand now i have no faders.. just a leaky crossfader.

Yet even with these... handicaps, I'm still able to throw it down well, just have had to change my style a bit.. This can be verified by my latest demo, which will be up by monday afternoon...

Im gonna get it fixed locally by an electrician..

I unfortunately didn't cover it all the times.. and the places ive been living are REALLY fucking dusty..

Its my fault i suppose, but it still bit some dust pretttty quickly..

Hmmm sounds like when I first got a pair of tables as well. I couldn't figure out how to put the cartridge on for the longest time.\

Hey///

$200????

is the mixer any good? any ups and downs?

i've got the DM1050, it's cheap as, but it's never failed me, not even once. no problems, other than a shitty dB meter.

dinoxpress why don't you just buy a new mixer?

Posted by 3xx3r7 on Nov-22-2005 22:20:
