Prodigy - Firestarter

Underworld - Cowgirl

Orbital - Halcyon + On + On

I can safely say these 3 tunes got me into electronic music.

Heard Firestarer in some old Much Music Compilation when i was little, and Cowgirl and Halcyon in Hackers, the greatest movie ever made. Ever.

for me, all started with magik 6 and oakie's tranceport...
when i listened to these albums i was like "OMG what music is this???"
so i dicovered trance.

i have to say i agree with

Moby - Go

very haunting track and it still makes the hairs on my neck stand up on end, even today, 1991 i believe

oh and to be picky, Madagasgar was from 1998, and Horizons was from 2000

Posted by retrobyte on Nov-20-2005 16:35:

Daft Punk - Around the World
Basement Jaxx - Red Alert
Fatboy Slim - Acid 8000
Chocolate Puma - I Wanna Be You

those were the biggies that really solidified my crossover. before that it was mostly remixes and the like

When I was about 7 I heard Busy Child by the Crystal Method and I liked it. Several years later at the age of 12 I found that DGMC Trance Oakenfold, Van Dyk... blahblah and I got hooked on trance ever since that.

It's so important to you that you don't even know the correct artist?

As for me, probably T99 - Anasthasia and Quadrophonia - Quadrophonia.

Posted by DarkFall01 on Nov-20-2005 17:27:

Underworld - Cowgirl
Underworld - Born Slippy
Underworld - Jumbo
The Prodigy - Firestarter
GTR - Mistral

Prodigy - Firestarter was the introduction of EDM for me. After they released Breathe I asked for 'The Fat of the Land' for my 8th birthday haven't stopped listening to it since.

Then my mum got me into trance by playing a MoS compilation with For An Angel on it, and as a kid I used to listen to all of my mum's CD's instead of me wanting anything that I saw on Top Of The Pops..

Definitely, it was like the 3rd EDM song I ever heard.

Push - Strange World

Darren Tate vs. Jono Grant - Shine

Tim Xavier - Threatre of Sound

Chris Liebing - American Madness

DJ Rush - Get on Up (Chris Liebing Remix)

Hertz - Granit

It was albums rather than individual tracks that turned me away from the Dark Side - those albums being The Chemical Brothers' Exit Planet Dust and The Crystal Method's Vegas. May they rest in peace.

There was a storm nearby and we were getting the side effects, and it made it foooking aweeesome to watch and listen too

My experience with edm happened in 2 stages.

My first taste of edm came from my old babysitter when I was 7. She used to have 'The Prodigy - Experience' constantly playing. At the time, she was the best thing since sliced bread cos she used to let us up till whenever we wanted! So to try be as cool as her, I started listening to Culture Club, The Shamen etc. But it was an album my ma bought me that really got me lovin edm. She brought me home '2unlimited - No Limits' the album, on tape, and for about a year, I never stopped listening to that type of stuff. 'Maxx - Getaway' and 'No More' were 2 of my favorites, as well as 'Haddaway -What Is Love', 'Modo - Einz Zwei Polizei', 'Urban Cookie Collective -I've Got The Key', 'Snap - Welcome To Tomorrow' etc. Then came 1995. I was 9 and into stuff by Scatman , The Nightcrawlers, Mark 'Oh etc.

Then when I hit the age of ten, I totally went off the shitty pop edm i was into and turned into an Indie head. For about 3 years, I was totally anti-dance music and would have massive arguemnts with my mates about how shit and repetitive i thought it was. But I always secretly liked a few of the tunes coming out like 'Children', 'Encore Un Fois' but always denied it to my mates.
I eventually started admitting to liking some dance music, in particular 'Chemical Brothers - Hey Boy, Hey Girl', 'Stardust - The Music Sounds Better', so from then I liked some of the edm in the charts.

But in 2000, my mate in school brought in the 'Mauro Picotto - The Lizard Man' album. This was my first taste of proper non-chart edm...and I was fooking hooked from the second I listened to it. Since then my tastes have changed from time to time but I have been obsessed with edm since hearing the very 1st track on that album 'Save A Soul'.

Sorry, got ridiculously carried away with that post , but couldn't stop writing as i was thinking back!

Posted by Spartan on Nov-21-2005 20:15:

it was a combo of ATB - The Summer, and BT - Flaming June for me, and maybe a few Alice Deejay stuff mixed in between that got me hooked waaaaaay back when

Posted by RapidFire on Nov-21-2005 20:26:

Paul Oakenfold - Speed (off the swordfish soundtrack and Need For Speed 2)
Underworld - Dark & Long (Dark Train Mix)
obital - Halcyon + On + On
prodigy - breathe
Traci Lords - Control (Juno Reactor Instrumental)

Posted by Dj Dissent on Nov-21-2005 20:36:

mike koglin - the silence (tekara mix)
FSOL - papua new guinea
gus gus - purple (sasha vs. light mix)
RITM - OOBE
schiller - I feel you

....finally I understood what rave was and the whole concept behind it

As is with most, Robert Miles - Children is what sucked me into dance music. It completely changed my interests in music.

Cabala - 333
Subcouds - Space Angel
Astral Projection - Andromeda
Ayla - Ayla
E.N.E.R.G.Y. - Desire (Power Mix)

THE SONG:

PVD - For an Angel.

Also, I liked prodigy in like grade 7

Prodigys Fat Of the Land album really got me into EDM especially this track
Prodigy - Breathe

Posted by Redd on Nov-22-2005 04:37:

I'd been listening to EDM a long time before, but
Sosa - Accelerator (Taucher Remix) and Planet Fuse IV - Devotion (Heavens Gate Mix) opened my eyes for so much more of it. Old days ftw.
