BENNY BENASSI november 19th REVIEW

well, its not 6:25. just got back a bit prematurely from the party, and was PLEASENTLY suprised by the preformance tonight given by Benny. Guv was a bit packed, and the coat check line was pretty darn messed up, but once inside the good music started to roll. Myself im not a huge fan of Oliver but to his credit this evening he spun a real good opening set for bennassi to lead into. (from what i heard of his closing he sorta went downhill though, just not the same happy pump up vibe, expected him to go a litle more trance for the closing, but he kept up the house feeling)
Benny hit the stage (which i thought was odd, cause in april he was in the balcony) but no real loss, got to shake his hand, and got his signature which was sweet[which is not doable when their in balcony])
started it up real nicely with some harder house music which i was really feeling tonight. and his crowd interaction was great. he kept holding up signs to the audience that he would write, and then after the crowd would read it and cheer, he'd scrumple it up and throw it to them. (very effective haha)
did alot of signing for the crowd which is always nice, even when the crowd only gives him money to sign, haha. but not only that he was in a very good mood, which was nice, and he was dancing and enjoying his own music (which i like to see).
screamed to his as loud as i could to spin his Never Win remix, and he winked and me, and gave me the (1 minute) sign. and then 2 songs later. BAM<><><>
made my night. all around good music, crowd was packed, but still in good spirits. met alot of great people. very impressed with bennys track selection and live mixing.
and thats my review.

hope to hear yours aswell

while i agree with you when it comes to benny's crowd interaction (he really was having fun and did put a lot of effort in) i found his track selection to be chaotic at best. it was all over the place with no order to it. not my night at all
missed MO opening so cannot comment.
the gallery was nice. some good ass-shaking beats. the room is great (as all the ppl from lawler can attest to) definitely not too packed or too hot

was not feeling mo closing. left around 6

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LUCAS..always a pleasure
and nice to meet u nathan. sorry about the crappy intro

highlight of the night

what else is there - Royksopp (jaques luconte mix)

**And then flashligths and explosions**

just got home...

interesting night...

honestly was not that impressed with benassi... played a couple of good songs... i thoroughly enjoyed marc oliver for a little bit after benassi, but then he started falling flat...

guv. was a bit too packed... but to be expected...

can someone ID the tune that marc oliver played that he mixed into the out of space track... really funky horn & vocal sample... i know that is very vague... but thats all i got...

Well got into The Gallery around 11:30 and I really like the decor in the Gallery. Stayed in there to hear Addy and Sydney Blu...man I love that lady.....she really keeps a party going. They opened the doors to allow us access to Guvernment and I went over there just to hear about 10 minutes of Bennasi as I walked to the smoke area because the Gallery was hot....there is no air circulation in there. Went out to the smoke hole and Ran into Stingray....as always it was great chatting with you and your friends. We decided that it was waaaay to crowded in the Guv...which I was expecting....so we decided to make the 10 minute walk across the stag and head back to the Gallery. We got in there and Deko-ze was laying down some really high energy happy beats. About 4:30 headed back over to Guv. Mark seemed a little off but that didn't matter I was so pumped I just kept dancing. About 7 am the came on the speaker and thanked everyone for coming out. everyone want to hear one more song so Mark started up again. I left so I don't know how much longer he actual spun for.

All and all....a great night...maybe next time I will actual dance to Benny.

Oliver...Goodness Opening set past 1:00am, An Opener Worthy of a Prize!! Mark Built up the Energy in the main room as no other D.J can! Job well done Yet again...

Benny Benassi was OK in my books, But I found it not to have a good flow from one song to another...

And then the CLOCK HIT 4:00AM and MARK OLIVER Dropped BORN SLIPPY!!!

no tracklisting unless you ask the Man himself...Which song r u lookin' for???

Posted by lexclu on Nov-20-2005 23:07:

it was the song that he played before the out of space track... its got a really funky horn/vocal stab to it... its a big tune, carl cox played it at 9yr... everyone always goes crazy for it... and i figured its gotta be a relatively recent release...

ask the man himself? please explain... im a forum newbie...

Review

Very descent night @ the guv indeed...

Left the crib at around 9:30 to go pick up some free passes to the gallery (which we didnt end up using) thanks anyway pat. Got to the club at around 11pm quite surprisingly there was no line up at the DRink, got in, got a free drink from the Smirnoff people @ the front. Thanks. MO was doing a good job in the main room warming up the crowd, i LOVE his style. Benni B came on, i enjoyed some of stuff however most of it was quite boaring but he had alot of energy and seemed like he was enjoying himself. Nice touch with the papers saying "new single". After while some of my friends left and the rest of us went over to the Gallery. Not sure who was spinning at the time but i couldnt stop dancing.

Unfortunatly didnt run into any familiar faces last night, where were u guys??!? or i must have been too out of it to realise.

Well overall good party and satisfied my clubbing fix till christmas holdidays...

see you guys soon....Hopefully some of you in Montreal for Danny Howells.

I'm in a shitty mood so I'll make this short and sweet.

Guv over packed as usual.
Crowd sucked. Pure 103.5 ginos.

Thank you ChemEnhanced for finding me and rescuing me!

Gallery was awesome! Sydney was tearin things up and got me goin hard! That room has a great vibe! For a while I forgot I was still in the Guv and had to go through the sweaty disgusting main room for get out coats and leave.

Good night overall

For the few moments I was in Guv I did hear Benny B. play some AC/DC....I was singing along and playing air guitar.....If only I had my mullet again.....it would have been grade 9 all over.
