MTL appreciation thread

OK, haven't been out to see anything involving DJs or anything else for a long while, but holy FUCK! flying high fives to MTL for being the weirdest pot of local music in the collective unconscious. things to keep an eye out for:

1. Duchess says - local crazy dance party madness. word up.
2. sunday sinners - local all-girl honky tonk badacidness.
3. aids wolf - local (s)creamy wierdness.

so, the return to late nights of dancing for 8 hours returning to the world of pasty-faced nothingness (me) soon. there should be a favorite local dj thread. commencement:

Matt Ste.-Marie: word to the most high (jah, rastafari). ridiculously manic dancing pants.

FAK, y en avait une man, y en avaiiiiiiiiiit une mannnnnnnnnnnnn...ahhhhh.....

Posted by ninjahola on Nov-21-2005 22:20:

Creator, King Louis, Maus, Steve Godsoul (the most underrated DJ in the City, IMO)....to name a few or my faves....
Marco G is growing on me, the last time I saw him at Aria was filthy insanity...
I hear good things about Kal, but will find out for myself on Friday when he plays with Nick and Louis, Will also be my first time seing Nick, which should be cool, I hear good things there as well.

Loads more, but those are the ones I"m appreciating at the moment.

Well, Maus is just the shit. I love her sooo much! She destroys Aria whenever she spins in my opinion. Miguel Graca is on my list also. XL comes to mind...Nick Pilon: can't wait to see him in action this [email protected] King Louis has spun beautifully the 2 times I saw him...so much potential in that guy! But I must say I love Fred Everything above all. Keep up the awesome spinning locals!

WOOOT YES!

so i'm kinda unfamiliar with this guy, since i've just recently starting listening to his music. is/was he ever a resident at any clubs in MTL? it seems that he's a busy man with the amount of shows he plays around the world. does he come home to do shows often?

ooo and i appreciate the montreal people...SO NICE, and so hospitable merci to all the friends i've made so far

He used to do the Tiga and Gnat show on McGill Radio Between the years 1994 and 1995 and maybe more, but I remember tuning into those sessions once a week late at night...A definate Montreal pioneer and legend. Was pretty much my introduction into the scene. Still have some tapes!!!OLDSKOOL!

Tiga is one of the reasons our scene is what it is today....From his involment in vynil shops to promoting events he has been there since the beginning.
