you can hardly even post here anymore in the evening.

lately the forums are so crowded that you can hardly even post here in the evening. All i get is errors, and then i post again and it turned out that my previous post already was posted but i still got an error, so i make all these triplle post all the time. and then you have to delete them. which will take you hours cause it is so friggin' crowded.

just wanted to get that off my mind. i don't know much about computers so i can't think of a solution for this problem, but maybe someone else can?

before we all start going around complaining and moaning, firstly this site doesnt cost 14p a day to run, servers aint cheep, and swampers current setup is starting to show its age (ive been told) and hes said that he is getting a new server which will be able to handle around 400+ peeps in the forums at once, but just a little question, ur both complainging about the servers not being good enough, but have a guess how many people click the banners on each time, coz i bet u 2 dont, coz i no i dont, i should, but i dont, and i bet theres many more, should be greatful theres this site at all, coz it nocks the bollox of all the other sites on the net for trance.

I trust u'll be giving a generous donation towards Swampers new server this year then?

hmmm, i guess i'll start clicking them from now on, its the least we can do . after you click it, do you have to keep it open a certain amount of time? or can you just click it and close it?

I used to work with marketing at an internet agency and with "affiliate marketing" in particular. The markets are probably different in Sweden and Canada/US, but we paid about 10 cents per click.
Swamper may also have deals with the companies that gives him (in perspective)"a lot" of more money if someone clicks on a banner and then decides to become a member or buys something etc..
The bottomline is that it�s not a lot of cash.

O well, it's a minor problem. With the amount of tunes I've been getting from here lately I can't complain. I try to click the banners @ least once a day when I come on too.

i guess you can make money with a porn site, or there wouldn't been so much of them.

as for the banners: i always click them once a day. ( clicking more then once a day has no use, companies check your ip)

now now coup... i know you mean well, but you have to realize that these statements surely aren't meant to be unappreciative..... we have to have a happy medium of constructive criticism and downright complaining....

If the man himself doesn't get feedback from the people using the sight, how's he to know of all the troubles? On the other hand, we should be grateful that he is paying for what it is.... but from what i know firsthand about having your own site, and having a lot of members look up to you and your site to be there every day.... its worth it to spend a couple of bucks.... (and i'm sure swamper would agree).... but this doesn't mean we shouldn't click the banners... we should... but what i'm saying is that i don't think it makes a difference either way... really....

so if all the users clicked on a banner each day at a cost of 10c a click and there being just over 6000 memebers if i remember correctly making swamper $600 a day which is quite a neat sum for just banner clicks. mind you this could then be trebled if three companies sponser banners.

sad fact is i bet he gets about 2 dollars max a day

aha, i have a new years resoltuion: click on a a TA banner each day thus come 2003 i can say ive earnt swamper $35.60 you should all do it you know it makes sense!

well in all fairness, you have to remember that the age group this site deals with is not a target audience for net sales. i mean, how many 16 year olds but stuff off the net? or have money to do so? i doubt anyone's parents will just toss them their visa and say, 'hey, go to it!'
i know i have no interest in the popups, but i have clicked them by accident a few times . i never really thought about the cost to run the server, so perhaps in the future i will be more aware of the financial burden we serve as.

the lag is pretty annoying though. heh.

Don't click on Herbal Ecstacy banners and stuff unless you want to.. I don't get anything from that...

I don't get anything from individual clicks on other banners either - but it looks good if at least some ppl are clicking, so if ya click once a day on a banner it's all good

With Popunders/Popups it doesn't matter if you click, so don't feel guilty, just keep it open for a second or 2 - that's it.

Yea the site is slow, but you won't find another site running as much as stuff as I do on a AMD K6-II 300Mhz machine

do you want to try to take up a "collection" to help you put together a faster computer? hehe i put together an AMD thunderbird 1200 MHz for around 300 bucks...

But the real question is: would this really help server speed?

It might be an idea to put some sort of limit of users (until the new server is fixed). I know other sites that has this function to keep traffic down.. Today it has been almost impossible to get into the forum..

I never even thought about the banners in a commercial way! funny....usually i'm such a market-driven person

the forum does have some trouble lately...but i think it's worth the wait

maybe it is a bad time for me to try and post right after an update to the new tracks section has gone up? or are these separate?
