what's the best method to mix with digital files?

i've been ripping my cd files to mix 320kbps mp3 files with traktor and then compressing the wav mix to mp3.

i now think that it may be better rip cd files to wav, mix with the wav files and then compress the complete wav mix to mp3.

any suggestions?

Yes that would be a better idea, you are compressing to mp3 twice which is never a good idea. However because you are using a high bitrate mp3 for the songs to mix, and then (presumably) a lower bitrate (i'm guessing your saving the final mix as 192 or simmilar?) you would be very lucky to notice an audiable differance in the final mix.

I could hardly noticed the difference, but to keep them as WAV and rip the final mix to mp3, is the safer way to go.

but that's just for recording, if you are oging to be mixing, I recommend you to keep the 320 MP3, so that way you can keep more tracks in your computer, and save some space.

Anyway, it's supposed to be , that the difference from WAV and 320 KBPS MP3 can not be noticed by the human ear.
