I tried the demo of it months ago on xbox
thought it was absolute shit.. the need for speed series just went down hill after posche unleashed, and is hitting new lows

what are you on about sunrise? Need for speed underground 2 is a pretty awesome game.

BTW, these games are best played on PC. PS2 graphics just don't cut it.

Only milk and juice come in two litres.

I dunno what this new game is like, but hopefully they've actually got some cars that are desirable, rather than an MX-5, Focus or Lancer

the nfs series has become SOOOO arcadey, it's nearly as bad as a slot car racer, although we'll leave that title to the burnout series...

and ps2? who the hell would play anything on that? xbox for the win
forza motorsport, omy

yeah and cheap wine comes in 5!

I certainly without knowing, believe that it will have its fair share of beasts.

im with your sunrise. porsche was fantastic. the underground series sucked. mostly coz how can you have a car racing game where its faster to crash round & ride rails than it is to take the racing line?

and seriously, these games need to work on their signage & make it fvcking consistent. nothing worse than playing a racing game that leads you to believe its a hard left turn when its a gentle right and THEN a hard left.

circuit racing > street racing imo.

again I have to ask, what are you on mate?

Gran Turismo 4 is one simulation on PS2 that makes forza look like a bottle of brown brothers.

I guess horses for courses but the aim of need for speed has always been arcade feel.

soooo not true. the original NFS (if any of you can remember back that far) was a challenging racer.

the police ones (sorry forget title) were arcadey, but still punished you for hitting walls.

porsche was fvcking difficult. certainly not arcadey.

its the underground series that has ruined it. fun, but only on those tracks that didnt reward you for being a shit wall-hugging driver

that my friend is all a matter of personal opinion. Yes they may have had features that punished you, but overall it was still aimed at arcade gaming.

You never were able to bolt on a bigger turbo, etc.etc.

at least in underground, you could dyno your car, change fuel maps, change boost levels etc. adjust air fuel ratios etc.

yeah the ones earlier in the series, and as far back as the original, they werent simulations, but they werent entirely arcadey, and found good ground where it was challenging, fun and relatively easy
the series probably peaked at porsche, although that was still far from a simulator or being tremendously realistic, but damn, I think it was REALLY good middle ground, and HEAPS of fun

underground.... so close to slot car racing, and crap, and the physics are just way off and wrong, although that's how they made it to be :/ in conclusion, ducks.
I was hoping with most wanted, they were going to go back to how the series was earlier on but noooooo, I guess it's a lot cheaper for them to reuse the nfsu/nfsu2 engine anyways O_o... damn EA

haha, bollocks.

\\\"arcade\\\" defines certain characteristics/physics you would find in a game in an *shock horror* arcade

the first NFS was not an arcade game.

the porsche NFS game was not an arcade game.

edit: tho yes you are correct in that you could alter your car. but sitting there tweaking my car's performance isnt what i play racing games for

and yeah, i agree 3500, the porsche NFS was a beautiful blend between simulation and outright fun. not sure about you, but i found that game fvcking tough.

In my opinion the best Need For Speed series was the first Hot Pursuit, loved it!

Hot Pursuit 2 was very good aswell though i just didn't like the underground series.

Might check Most Wanted out but whats the Blacken edition?

btw i thought the Porsche Unleashed was absolute shit IMO

i loved high stakes, it had the xr8 and hrt commodore in it
and hot pursuit 2 wasnt too bad, had some really nice cars in it, although that's where things started getting a little bit too arcadey, it was borderline acceptable

i got it yesterday on psp. its mad. better than underground rivals 2

anybody wanna buy a japanese version of rivals 2?

Posted by RaverSpike on Nov-25-2005 19:24:

I just played Need For Speed Most Wanted last night and so far the best in series has alot better better than any Need For Speed,u1 and u2, cars are mad, cops are annoying but fun this game rocks, storyline the best so far, tons of videos

Black Ed
has more cars
Turns Cars
Behind the scenes and yeah

Porsche NFS
was my favourite, the graphics where unbelievable for PC back in the days, not overly done. Now they need to make something similar but with a variety of cars, and non of this airbrush, vinyl, gloossy roads, style points etc. etc. I like my sleepers
GT in PC will be a dream

Posted by pkcRAISTLIN on Nov-26-2005 02:25:

alrighty. now i havent actually sat down to play it, but i spent a fair amount of time watching my flatmate. and i played a lot of u2. it looks exactly the same as u2 except the graphics are better. much better imo, but dont really give that much of a fuck about graphics.

if you loved u2 youll love this.

not for me tho. im tired of recycled garbage.

indeed it IS a very cool game!
it started out as a mod for EA's F1 2002 and moved onto becoming its own game

and caution, it's a SIMULATION.

btw does anyone like Rally? has anyone played the Colin McRae Rally 2004 or 2005? Though i only got the demo of the 04 version, and so far its one of the best rally games ever!

get 05 it's more refined and is better
lots of good fun! it's a shame there's no new colin mcrae coming out

i got screenies of it up here
http://users.monash.edu.au/~dkne1/xb/nov5cmr05.shtml
although check out the forza screenies VERY awesome game
http://users.monash.edu.au/~dkne1/xb/may15forza.shtml

richard burns rally is a bit over the top, they wanted it to be like 100% realistic, but I think they tried too hard and it's beyond realistic, and the xbox release is buggy too O_o

Forza looks awesome! Unfortunetly i haven't got a XBOX, not even a PS2 anymore.

Only a Dreamcast, still the best console , mainly because you can play the old super ninteno games on it and any other past console!

NFS3:Hot persuit was IMO the most 'fun' of the series. Nothing like smashing cop cars into the walls, or even more fun still, driving as the cops and dropping spike strips everywhere.

Underground was very popular cause it took it to the level of the 'average joe' so to say, as opposed to half a mil exotic cars that no one can even dream to own.

Unfortunatly in doing so, a whole new generation of idiots were inspired to drive on the roads like superman in the name of 'drifting' I have to exercise alot of self restraint when I have to listen to my peers talk about 'drifting' that being throwing their crappy cars around corners in the wet so their crappy tyres lose traction and make some crappy noise as they yell out 'FULLI' out the window...

And Crappy...
