Yeah, I had one the other day. Kinda strange
you need to get some valarian (SP?) roots to make tea or pills. really good stuff. i know it's not gonna help you right now but when you get a chance so next time you just chill. feel better.
My name is Tony Soprano and I suffer from panic attacks.
Yeah I got a panic attack the other day too. I was trying to bench an extra 20 kg to my maximum and as the bar was coming I felt that I totally couldn't hold it and I was like "PULL UP, PULL THE DAMN BAR UP!!"
But sitting at home, no. Take a big glass of this beauty, and relax or something.

^^^ i agree, just sip on some alco, it will relax you pretty damn good
There was this technique the native american indians used when winter time came along. This technique is called mind control. They always thought of things related to heat like the Sun, hot cooking fire, the warm animal coats, etc. and sometimes it work and sometimes it didn't. In your case try to think of things that bring you immense happiness and euphoria like a massage or whatever floats your boat. Oh and if food or drugs bring you euphoria please refrain from using any of those because during a panic attack you can choke on food and drugs are obviously not the solution. Afterwards you might seriously consider seeing a psychologist. Your body is designed to function properly and if it strays away from normal functionality then you should consider fixing it.
yeah, i used to have a problem with these but now i only get a little anxious sometimes. it felt like i wasn't getting enough air...like i was choking. what i did, is i started exercising....mostly long distance running..once you get to a certain level of fitness, it feels like you're invincible. going for walks/changing your environment helps....yeah, mints are good....chilling with a beer is better.
try to realize that you are young and healthy; the sense of doom that you have is all in your mind even though your body may be reacting as well.
make a few positive lifestyle changes perhaps...people get over these.
I get them all the time. I think it's one of the long term effects of X inflicted damage to your brain.
There are few things that help me come down:
1. limit my cafeine intake (the advise about soda is probably a bad idea, as it will only intensify it)
2. toke up
3. glass of wine or some alchoholic beverage (the stronger the better)
4. running - believe it or not but running makes you breathe deeper, which calms you down.
...so, take 3 shots of tequila, smoke up, put on some chill-out tune on your mp3 player and go run a mile or two.
also, playing with my synths calms me down - as my mind is distracted by the music and tweaking of sounds.
OH, and when nothing else helps - valerian root definitely does or just 3 pills of St. John's Wort. Valerian will make you sleepy and drowsy, St. John's calms you the fuck down and you're fully alert.
I take daily supplement to keep me sane and stay away from coffee and other stimulants.
JUst remember: this too shall pass

I have Diazepam 2.5mg for panic attacks.
I used to hyperventillate till i passed out. Luckily this time i didnt. Thanks for your help guys.
Any ideas to help are still appreciated.
Whoever said tokeup when u have anxiety disorder/panic attacks ....ur a moron. Weed can actually cause panic attacks haha ...i get them because i used to do a good amount of weed/other substances, and know for a fact that if you're chronic abuser of cannabis, and u go cold turkey after a few years, u get panic attacks. Some people just get then naturally, others differently, I know I have it and it fucking sucks ..the other week i was in my car in a parking lot and didnt wanna leave because I was afraid something bad was gonna happen to me if I left it.

its normal to get panic attacks around the holidays
I had one really bad panic attack and it was the main reason behind my drastic cutback in substance use. I feel for anyone who has to deal with them on a regular basis.
hey jackson
alot of times, analyzation and awareness of the situation as a whole helps, infact it can really help prevent. As you know, when you go into one, all reality kind of fades and you're simply not thinking rationally. It just keeps building up.
I think once you are aware of the steps you're in, you can help prevent/reduce the level of the next. Anxiety attacks are real, theyres no "its all in your head" (no pun) about it. Its chemical. But just like how a speaker can give you a headache, or standing out in the winter can give you a cold, wrong thinking can send you off in an attack. They're ALL usually reactions to conditions. Not always, but most of the time.
analyze the level you're in. First you got the anxious as shit level, then you got the first "wave", then the second wave, the "oh shit" wave, then the "wtf im dying" wave. Its one giant domino effect. Sure, hearing your heart going 100mph and feeling like the world spinning isnt comforting, it only makes things build up, but, just realize, its nothing more than what it is. Its a miserable few minutes, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.
IMO for many, the medicine approach can develop an extreme dependancy, and disallows the patient to ever actually "fight" the battle. Ofcourse, if it helps, and its not unhealthy, why not. I wouldnt suggest resorting to escape methods though, IE weed or alchohol, or other street drugs. Thats just asking for another problem, and is 90% of the reason people go into substance abuse, (escape from something else).
Just like any other health condition, awareness is VERY powerful.
Theres a difference between panic attacks and attacks that you experience from substance abuse.
I get panic attacks probably once a month when Im at school. I usually have no idea what to do, its impossible to stop. Lying down in my bed and crying usually helped me though. Hyperventilating was usually a different story, Id have to get someone else to calm me down if it got that bad. Try and find something that always makes you feel better (not any kind of drugs or alcohol, thats only going to make it worse), something that reminds you of times when things were great, and just chill out with that for a while.

^ word ...i was in the same boat, but only for half that time. I totally quit, and didnt smoke for a year, let me tell u that was the hardest time ive had to deal with. I built myself this little world while i was doing stuff, like what i perceived to be reality, and then when I went sober, I didnt know what was what hah...lost as hell, and public places like shopping, being in places with alot of peopel such as grocery lines became unbarable.
yeah, the 2 "real" panic attacks that i've had....where your heart is racing and you're hyperventilating were just after i smoked up. i used to smoke weed a lot....and then i started to quit becuz i wasn't feeling comfortable at times....as i smoked less and less, my friends were smoking better and better stuff, so when i did smoke, i'd get totally fked up and that's when the attacks set in. both times, i quick said "bye" to my friends and drove home...it's hard to drive okay when you're heart is beating against your ribcage and hyperventilating!
if you are worried about panic attacks and can't handle weed well sometimes, stay away from the stuff! it has been documented that it can cause attacks.
