- Barber's original is a powerful and emotional classical piece from 1936.
- William Orbit "synthesized" Barber's version in 1995 which finally got released in 1999 and his version is stylewise a bit similar but sounds more synthetic.
- Ferry Corsten & ATB remixed William Orbit's remake in 1999.
- Minimalistix did their remake in 2002.
- Mat Silver & Tony Burt did their version in 2004.
- Tisto did his remake earlier this year with remixes by Phynn, Danjo & Styles and Fred Baker.

There are loads of other versions, remixes and remakes.. check discogs for the rest of them.

Also, there's a choral version to the text of the Agnus Dei

If I'm not wrong Tiesto made his version in 2003 but it took a good while until it was released.

Might be, that happens with most tracks nowadays. They are made at point x but get released possibly much much later. I don't care enough to worry about my "mistake" tho.

original is still the best IMHO

these are a few i found on the net (just info anyways)

1. Barber's Adagio for Strings [Ferry Corsten Remix Radio Edit]
2. Barber's Adagio for Strings [ATB Airplay Mix]
3. Barber's Adagio for Strings [Excerpt from Original Version]
4. Barber's Adagio for Strings [Ferry Corsten Remix]
5. Barber's Adagio for Strings [ATB Version]

but dont understand "except from original version" on #3

i'd really like to hear the orginal version!
cause trance usually have the constant drums which kinda ruins the song when its such a good melody ;o maybe i shud just stay to classical :d

dont you guys think so too at times..?

Read more carefully, it says exceRpt from original version which means it's basically an edit of William Orbit's version.

Seriously you've never heard this? I could rip and upload tomorrow if you want...

I used to adore the original, and I hate to say that it's been kind of ruined for me. Hundereds of years of beautiful classical music, and the same tune is remixed to death, and over-played to the point where i can't listen to the original without expecting 'it's just another day' to come in at the endof the first phrase...

Tommasso Albinoni - Adagio In G Minor

And anyway, Tiesto didn't make that, but nicked it from Rollerball - Albioni, which Above & Beyond did a good time before Athena.
