There are lots of great monitors out there, Depending on the size of the screen, Go for those CRT monitors with the flat screen. You should be able to find some good monitors at www.newegg.com.

Thats not a CRT, You specifically said you wanted a CRT monitor, Not an LCD one, LCD monitors aren't good for games.

Posted by Sunsnail on Nov-25-2005 23:49:

Yeah I know...but it seems good enough.

Acording to the page, The maximum resolution it handles is 1280x1024 plus Horizontal Fresh Rate 30~82kHz and Vertical Fresh Rate 50~75Hz. I personally don't like LCD monitors cause you have to look at them right in the center in order to see the image clear, Thats cause of the back lighting, Which is why I prefer CRTs, You can view them in any angle.

Well yeah, it was just an idea. Out of all the 19" monitors which one is the best

Posted by Sunsnail on Nov-26-2005 00:03:

Scratch that, I just realized how big 19" actually is.... Im going to try 17"

All I can tell you is get a CRT monitor with a flat screen and if you want it in 19" I'm sure they have it.

I bet your using them as dual monitors for the PC?

i have 2 DELL UltraSharp 1704FPV w/ contrast-ratio 1000:1 and they're excellent. their 19" and 20" are also great quality including 3 year advance exch warranty.

Posted by Zeiter on Nov-26-2005 01:01:

ok, i did buy 3 lcd monitors ...and test them out..before i decided to stay with my crt monitor...

I tried a viewsonic model...text was perfect, images were a lil noisy and movies, forget it, it wasn't watchable..

second monitor i tried was a samsung 940b...it was great unless the lighting of it was kinda too bright for my taste even at a low brightness level...so i got it back

and the last one was a samsung 173P....really nice monitor but kinda expensive but was good in all aspects except..the price was a lil too much for me $700 so i got it back for a refund....cuz im planning on buying a digital camera ( canon 350D ) and ive been told crt is way better for photography post processing and stuff..so yeah...

depends what u want, but i would wait some 2 more years as the SED technology will be available...it will be able to deliver crt quality on a lcd space...SED FTW!

The biggest disadvantage on LCD Monitors is the refresh rates, They arent high enough, I think they only suport up to 75Hz

Which is probably just a re-shelled version of another companie's monitor. I'm not sure if Dell makes their own or not, but alot of those companies will do that.

Personally, I like View Sonic or NEC CRTs. I have the 17" NEC MultiSync FE791FB and can't say I have any complaints about it.

Well being that graphics is my specialty, I use to use a dual display, Dell 1905FP LCD and Dell P991 CRT, the CRT kicks ass, but had to stop using it when I moved, the picture keeps shaking like crazy when I hook it up, something about electromagnetic interference, so its sitting unable to be used in my bedroom. Compared to my old faded CRT, the LCD is crap, I prefer CRTs, richer color, high refresh rates prevent ghosting or lag, and videos look way better compared to low to mid range CRTs. Short of using an Apple Display, for gaming I would go CRT dude. The best CRT out there is probably a Sony Artisan but that is for designers, gamers don't need that, any new model CRT will suffice.

HP vs17

I just got one 189.99 brand new on ebay. OMFG...It looks sweet, 17 inches

12ms response is OKAY...I've gotten used to it. Though there isn't much difference between it and my crt.

Posted by sym on Nov-26-2005 10:54:

snail i pretty much have that viewsonic monitor but the one i got was 19" 8ms. and ya the max resolution is 1280x1024 but it looks great. cs source looks great on it.

aren't these real expensive?
I don't think they're that common in the US and they're in the higher price range.

I personaly would kill for a Lacie or a Nokia monitor but the prices are off the wall.

Hey I need some more help...

whats the best video card under $450... for agp 8x

Posted by weymouth on Nov-27-2005 20:49:

I got the Samsung SyncMaster 910MP LCD this last summer and cant believe I waited this long to buy a new monitor. Works great for games and I see more details than with my old CRT. It has an 8ms response time and never lose frames per second with games. Also you can watch tv in a small picture in picture while surfing the net or working on something.

Granted the last monitor I had was the compaq monitor from like 2000 but I love this Samsung.
