Drum & Bass

Can anyone recommend tunes similiar to:

Paradox - Aries Maze
Breakage - Mars
Ronnie & Clyde - Miles Deep
Ambassadors of Style - Sid's Mellow Trip.

It can be brutal or harder edged, but I'd prefer it to be melodic/atmospheric as well.

No Bukem, por favor.

Thanks.

I don't think much people here listen to drum and bass...

Posted by Trance Nutter on Nov-28-2005 05:04:

Have you checked out Pendulum yet?
They are always a good starting point. Beyond that, I'm developing a taste for the more melodic stuff too, but I can't help ya.

It does seem to be the wagon of the week, doesn't it?

But beyond that, High Contrast, Cause 4 Concern, Raiden, Klute - all worth checking out. That set should be alright for a start.

To be fair, they are ridiculously good.

Yeah, I didn't argue that point!

It just seems that as soon as their album came out everyone wanted a piece of them. Rightly so though I suppose...

Yeah. I really like Skagtrap. But the others that I've heard; Plastic World, Let Your Nerves Speak & Vault I didn't care for. They were either too "light" for lack of a better word or just monotonous.

I used to be a big Contrast, Calibre fan but am looking for something harder.

It's going to be for a workout tape. Yet I don't want it to be 948237 BMP, horrorish Doomsday sounding.

"Inner City Life" I've never liked.
It's funny just imagining his abrasive album cover, you know the one. With the sharp gold teeth, as if he's just mutilated a baby fetus and then you listen to this song...

Thanks r5a, I'm dl'ing now, it's at 94%. And Trancedewd, Im on the search. I really like Breakage.

Thanks everyone for the help.

Raiden remixed Murder Was The Bass. Heh. Those Noisia tunes are wicked nonetheless, but I thought this thread wasn't about that sort of vibe..

Yah mon'. Intense, especially at 8:30 am. My heart rate just skyrocketed. That is the music of the Devil!

Be glad someone didn't link you to Panacea or DJ Scud yet

Posted by Estella on Nov-28-2005 14:53:

hahaah. I'll take your word on it. Just the name Scud, sounds like it isn't something you'd want to cross in the night. So you'd agree that if Satan spun, he'd spin DnB? err Industrial? Noise?

Well, some of the DnB I've just been blessed to hear... lol jk sounded like a mix of noise and industrial too. It was staticy and piercing to the human ear.

You would be forgiven for thinking that, as the drum n bass that the two make (when they're not busy making ragga/dancehall noise brutality (Scud) or releasing stuff on Ad Noiseam (Panacea) ) is the kind that makes woofers beg for mercy after 10 minutes.

Though the question what Satan would spin is a tricky one. It leaves the question whether he would spin the most frightening, harsh and abrasive music ever to live up to his image, or if he would just play the most annoying and nerveshredding music created to inflict max pain and suffering. Choices, choices..

Posted by Estella on Nov-28-2005 15:19:

Yeah really. I pick the pain and suffering. It would be a dubbed version of Lambchops, "this is the song that doesn't end oh it goes on and on my friends. some people started singing it not knowing what it was and they'll continue singing it forever just because this is the song that doesn't end oh it goes on and on my friends some people " Followed by the remix which would be merely a 4/4 drum beat, followed by the dub, followed by 4/4 beat, then the dub then

That would work nicely. Another option would be to put Doop - Doop on infinite repeat, crank it up a few dozen dB and then send hordes of demons to every part of the globe with speakers on their backs. And for those who haven't heard Doop - Doop, be thankful. It is truly a diabolic creation.

I found a site with the d-bridge breezeblock mix on it (although its not too fast): CLICK

I saw that you put Breakage in your first post so i thought you would like this set - its very much that kinda style
