And people still want to move to downtown Toronto. You're all nuts. Never in a million years would I live down there. Suburbs for me!

I understand this can be a scary thing, but do you know any more details about the shooting?
Most people who are shot are involved in the incident, or other crimes which are related. Random shootings do not usually happen.
If there have been 60 shootings/deaths this year, and 2.4million people living in toronto, not to mention the millions more that are jammed in day to day, thats 0.0025% of the population who has been killed by a gun in TO this year.
I honestly do not feel scared when I walk around. Maybe because I am a guy, but maybe because I hope, that as long as I keep my nose in my own business, I will be fine.

If you are going to be killed, it will be by someone you know.

| Originally posted by Floorwhore No - i didn't say that. I guess i'm just one of those care free people that dont worry about shit like that happening to me. Sure, it could happen..... i could also get in a car accident too - but i dont drive to work every morning in a mad panic. Things are fucked up these days no doubt. You getting a gun put to your head is obviously the reason you feel more in danger than i do. I for one, have not felt like my life was in jeopardy EVER in Toronto. |

| Originally posted by joinT anything to really base this on Bobby?? what if the incident is just a mugging or robbery that escalates to violence?? and at that point the victim is involved... |
in addition, what about bystanders who get caught..
like the girl on the TTC bus.. i happen to know exactly what happened and she had NO involvement whatsoever and was still seriously hurt..
i think the main thing that scares me is increased GUN violence in toronto.. guns just make it soooo easy to hurt someone.. point & click..
the problem with using your own experiences to base this off is, if you've never experienced this kinda thing then you may just not see it the same way.
those of us who have had guns pointed to our head (yay), have been jumped by groups of thugs out of no reason whatsoever (yay) etc., etc., well we see a different light. (I havent been charged or detained or even questioned in relation to any crime in my lifetime)
shit can happen randomly - it may not be random to the people perpetrating it... but to those of us who have been waylaid while minding our business it's a very vivid reality.
it definitely changes the way we see things
mushyflowa keep careful there eh!
yo Tristan! next time I WILL insist KURFEW drop me off first cos eeekkkk! guess what! I live in that area and I also heard the gun shots. Me = Scared so ummmm yeah! thought I'd share.

the thing of violence is that it IS Random. But what about bystanders? even I frequent that variety store often. and also - eeekkkkk what seems looks like my whole neighbourhood is down there staring at that body.
I wonder about thos kids actually fisthand seeing THAT shit.
and here I am trying to drown out the commotion and panic with some James Lavelle, or maybe i'll just play Tenaglia.
I- UH- NEED-A- BIG- FAT- SMOKE.
*sigh*
