The Quest - C Sharp (Der Mystik Rmx)
Hi everyone.
This is my shot at one of my ten favorites of all time.
[[ LINK REMOVED ]]
Feedback is always welcome.
and enjoy.
Cheers
Never thought I'd say this, but for once, a remix of a classic sounds good & refreshing.
Like it very much, nice interpretation man! (sounds even a bit like Fire & Ice - lost emotions) =)
keep it up!
Thank you Gladius, your comments flatters me.
first of all i must say that "Shaken Not Stirred" owns C Sharp, and im always dissapointed that no one chooses to go with that instead..
to the track:
bass, percussions, sounds perfect, the vocal chants are very good..
i love the bass as well.. the breakbeat section sounds alright.. production quality is mint.. does good justice to the original
nice drive from the start.
bass adds a good vibe.
sounds very platipus from 2000. 'moogwai - a night out?'
vocal is so 'age of love' add a quick gate?
breakbeat gets a bit much
but at 2;58 it sounds awsome! so evil and dark! saw synth is a bit cheap so maybe change it for something similar.
this track changes in style about four times throughout.
4;30 - this melody reminds me of why i started to really love trance.
armix of gouryella come to my head.
if i had done this track id re arrange it so its a track that loses most of the breakbeat but instead builds until it gets to the 4;30 part.
6;18 is nice with the breakbeat not but i dont like the saw synth.
overall i love a lot of this!
great work mate
rich
ps.. give my newest thread a check and review if you have a moment paulo
very nice
Your sounds are all nice. Intro is good.. but 5 minutes in and I have to concentrate really hard just to reconize the melody, which sounds all muffled in the background. It's kinda frustrating really because everything else sounds really good. Also I don't really like the gating thing you used. To me this song needs the triolets. Sorry if I'm a bit harsh but this is like my favorite piece of music of all time.
Yeh, where's the melody gone? If you're remixing a classic such as this you need to keep a large proportion of the melody intact so it's recognisable. Sounds almost like breaks to me which is original I must say. I like the overall feel of the tune but you need more melody.
Hi mates, thanks for your feedback.
The original melody, the main melody is after the breakdown , and I only kept that from the original since there has been quite a few other remixes (released and unreleased) which featured more of the original melodies , I love the original song, but I didn't want to copy it, I wanted to add my own touch to it and show it to the world, this is my tribute to this classic.

I think it needs a bassline
Or a stronger more out there bassline
And it's distorted...I don't know why.
Thanks for your comment, make sure you are using decent headphones or speakers, not your computer's. hihi
What is distorted by the way.

Wow, nice overall sound! Some of your older productions sounded a bit harsh but this is really warm and "round"...
Like the breakbeats, percussion, vocal chants and the changing "styles" - really interesting sounds!
Only thing i dont like is the lead sound after 4:10...
Great work mate!
Thank you S-Tune.
It starts off nicely.
Nice kick off.
Good bassline.
Nice arp.
Good sparkling thing in the back.
Nice vocals. Where did you get them?
Nice breakbeat.
I like the riff in the breakbeat.
OMG the pads
The dreamiest lead ever.
You should add a whoosh effect before you bring in the lead and don't use the riff when you filter the lead in.
I like it
Nice sound you used.
You should fade out the lead, it's too sudden.
The mix is too muffeled in the main part.
Nice 303 in the second breakbeat part
.
Nice remix.
8.5/10
Omer.
ok..
pushing the play bottom now!
00:20 Dont like the loop (houseloop). bass is very cool, and so are the perc fx`s!!
01:00 like the lead that comes inn, but maybe its to dry!
01:20 more percs. good!
01:35 well.. dont know what to say about the voice (female), it sounds okey!
02:02 the Laange drum fx`s is soo damn cool. why I say laange? is because I first heard it there!
02:31 - 04:21; Very nice breakdown, and you fill it with some cool beats. Like the idea, but you could maybe have worked a little bit more on that. Lead is cool! Like the lead in the beatbreak. And the bass s shifting, makes me smile!
.. . and more leads are coming, lead with the main melody. (but the arp on the main-lead melody is maybe a little to boring)
04:21 ; and the melody goes like that a while.
04:28 Good time to make a pause, with no drum. but you could have done it a little earlier.
05:56 ; Easy listening part with sawpads, and my favorite
laange fx!!
06:09 ; well. dont know what to say about the rev. kick! I feel the part that comes here is a litte to "club". It wants me to FF to the main melody again, or till it comes in right direction again. If you know what I mean? think its the 303 sound that makes me think "club".
07:32 ; cool. like it! I have like it better without the 303 sound. I love all the fx`s here.
08:00; Finaly. the 303 is gone! I like it more that way. but thats just my opinion
08:37 ; Done!
I like this very much! but I did expect to much of that song. Because I just love the original C-sharp - the Quest. but i like the remix alot. and will hear it sometimes!
good luck and have funn producing, thats the way you learn!
bye
Cheers!
This is awesome beyond words... I never heard the original tune, but this is really fast paced, energetic, and euphoric. This is what trance is all about.
I can't really add to what the other's have said, other than that I personally enjoyed it.
I really enjoy listening to tunes like this because of how inspiring it is for me to look up to productions like this.
Quality remix there PDM, though I don't really rate it past the original.. i'm much more in love with the actual main lead in the original song than I am with that secondary buildup one that you went with.
That said, all the sounds sit nice and tight here.. I don't know but with the bassline and drums playing at once, it seemed like it was distorting ever so slightly, could be my headphones.
Im particularly impressed with the breaks section, nice job on those.
Wow mates, thanks for your detailed feedback!!
You are right, only with practice you get to learn more and more, and well, I feel that in a way I could have done it deeper, as the original is, but I chose to interpret it in my own style, since there are many remixes already done covering the deep part, so I wanted to work in other aspects.
Still, the original will always be my favorite, as for "Shaken not Stirred", I took a listen to it, and let me tell you , you can't compare, this one is more clubby, while C-Sharp is way more emotional.
Glad you enjoyed it. and thanks again. Expect more remixes of my all time favorites in the future.

Cheers
Of course it is hard trance, the original isn't if that is what you were referring to, but this tends to the harder side of trance.
Thanks for your feedback.

Hey man I love the breakdown into breaks around the three minute mark. I think I would have prefered you keep it breaks throughout. Great track though, I'll certainly throw it into one of my sets these days. Keep it up.
Thanks Dj Minor.

This is a very good track, clean sounding and works really well. Sent some of my mates the link, they all like it too.
Good work mate
Hey mate,
commenting as I listen...
Nice beat, great sharp bass.
awesome pads and ambience. I really love it.
The synthwork is just fine so far.
The vocals are out of this world. They contribute the atmosphere perfectly. Dude, you never cease to amaze me. Standout stuff!
The breakbeat is interesting. I think you have one sound in it which stands out a little loud, nothing big tho.
Psy'ish synths now? Hehe, works for me. Sweet! Maybe it has a little sharp hi end, it could fit better in the mix.
Now it has evolved to a multilayered&deep classic. Things are getting a little muddy now, but you know what? I love it that way. Nothing is worse than a clinically clean, overcompressed sound.
Again a nice surprise with the acidline.
Great conclusion of another class A tune.
9/10
