Giant Village NYE '06!

Is it me or is this going to be the best NYE party on the planet? Flying all the way from Tampa to LA to catch Mark Tabberner, Jimmy van M, John Digweed and Christopher Lawrence tear it the fuck up and bring us into 2006 in style! Can't wait...

it does look good....but i dont like how bands go in between the dj sets. i will be at TAO.

Giant = Weakest NYE party in LA, IMO. Too much mainstream in there for my taste.

Would rather go to TAO, Spundae, or *sigh* Avalon (just hate the crowd, nothing against the venue/talent)

Like I keep saying, Avalon/Spundae is still just Avalon/Spundae even if it is on NYE.

I bet YOU weren't at Avalon's NYE 2 years ago with Digweed.

If you were (I doubt it though) you wouldn't be saying it was just Avalon.

well i went to giant village last year and i had a blast. BUT the lineup was much better(oakenfold at midnite) and they only had one band (the killers) the cool thing was that the killers were playing at the same time as digweed so you didnt have to listen to rock if you didnt wanna. this years line up is straight up LAME. who the hell wants to see the black eyed peas? and death cab? i mean, i like the postal service but death cab???? the flaming lips are cool too but thats the kinda music i DONT wanna hear on new years eve when i wanna party.

i think the place to be this year is the sports arena with pvd even though he's only playing for like 2 hours...the sound system at the sports arena is just insane. i think my ears are still ringing from the tiesto concert there from a couple months ago

Well to be fair the bands are all on one stage. Black Eyed Peas, Death Cab, and Christopher Lawerence are all on one stage...Van M, Digweed, and the Architects of Sound on another, a Deep lounge with Marques Wyatt and Mark Farina. The Basic lounge with some of the Basic boys, and a stage with Z-Trip, Crystal Method, and Adam Freeland.

So stop bitching about the bands and come to an the best block party evar!

we flip flopped on giant and avalon for like a month.. Sander gets the win with the 8 hour set and free breakfast tho hahah see you outside at 10 am

Anyone know about Christopher Lawrence's set time? I'm hoping that he gets at least 2 hours, considering he hasn't been here on NYE since '01 at TAO (still one of the dopest NYE events)

U guys r fucking crazy if u think the line up for Giant Village is lame. First of all, I am not going for the bands; screw the bands! Digweed and Lawrence at the same event? Maybe it is just cuz they are 2 of my top 3 dj's, but u also can see Tabberener, Jimmy van M, Adam Freeland, & Junkie XL to start the night and then see Digweed play a 6 hour set from 11pm to 4am and Christopher Lawrence play from 1am to 4am. Yeah, all the names I just mentioned are commerical right? I'll tell u who is commerical; it is PvD, Oakenfold, & Tiesto, they were great back in the day but I can only hear songs like "Traffic" and "Crush" so many times before I want to kill my self. I love Sander K to death, but everytime I have went to Avalon it seems to be nothing but a bunch of stuck up snobby mother******s and half of them don't even know who the dj is. As far as, TAO, I have been there the last two NYE parties and enjoyed them, so just need a change of venue from that party, plus the lineup this year is kinda wack. Spundae actually looks like it is gonna be off the chain and love the "cracked-out" atmosphere, but I didn't see Digweed and Lawrence on their lineup. Seems like the only person who has some sense in here is K420rn. C u there fool!

The people I'm "going with" are seeing the Black Eyed Peas, etc...

So my choices were:

a. Don't go.
b. 5 hours of Digweed.


Guess what what one I'm choosing?


I'm still a bit pissed that they didn't have rooms at the Standard this year...but I still have a suite at the Bonaventure for pre/post-partying...



I think the Giant/Avalon night would have been "better" overall, but it's not cheap, plus who knows what Avalon will do at 4am...will they even let us in?

Ok, so Sander K is only playing till 5am at Avalon. Soooo looks like I won't make it out after Giant Village.

But I still wanna party with you guys (Clovis, Tigo, and all other TA's) the day after. We should arrange some kind of party

Saw a flyer at Avalon. The front had a watch that said "12 Hours to New Years" or something. On the back it said, "Avalon open all night, 9pm - 10am, Continental breakfast blah blah blah...Sander K 9pm-5am". So I have no idea who's gonna cover after that but he'll probably be shitty
