Question regarding CMX-3000, need some opinions
Well basically I have been wanting to save up for 2 CDJ-1000 MK2's for a while now but I am starting to think otherwise, because not only is it going to take a while to get the money... but to just blow it ALL on TWO CDJ-1000's seems a bit much.....
So what im currently debating is whether I should purchase a CMX-3000 dual CD player used for like $500-600 for the next few years, and just stick with it until I decide to upgrade later on; and just continue to buy more tunes and vinyl...
I have just begun DJing and am going to spin with my Tech 1200's and the CMX-3000 at house parties, random events etc.
Do you guy's think i'm better off saving money and buying a used CMX-3000 for $500, or should I just purchase two CDJ-800's for $500 a piece...... its a hard decision and more of a personal matter.. but i'd like to know what you guy's think...
I would think its a smart idea to buy the CMX-3000 to save another $500 for vinyl and new tunes etc, because after all it even has scratch mode and a hell of a load of other features (but doesnt quite have the FEEL of a CDJ). It is obviously nothing compared to the CDJ 1000, but it does hell of a good job with the dual decks and features it comes with..
SO...what would you think would be more of an intelligent choice:
2xCDJ800 for under $1,000 (used or new, they run $480 brand new)
or.... a CMX-3000 (used for $500-600)
cmx3000=cdj800 X2.
The only difference is the cdj800 and the cmx have different loop fucntions, both awesome in their own right.. and the cdj800 is better suited for scratching.. the cmx is barely ok for ripping a backspin for shits and giggles.
personally, id pick the the cmx unless 1 was going for 2X 1000s...
Edited, so as not to waste anymore posts in this thread "correcting" me...
I compared cmx to the 800's, unless you scratch the 800's just don't add up.
cmx has hot cues (which can save your loops or points), wave display (not quite as good as the 1k's though), more pitch settings, pitch bend buttons, emergency loop
800 has the beat cutter and the better scratching. the scratch feature on the cmx is pretty forgettable.
both have 0.05% pitch resolution so not much in it there. I also like having the cmx fit well so I can have two tt's and the cd's all within easy reach.
i find it much easier to correct in the cmx, with either the job wheel or the buttons over the 800s, but others might feel differently

Dude to be perfectly honest I had your exact same mentality when I bought my DN-D6000 duals. They have .02 pitch accuracy and they're really seamless but now I'm saving up for CDJ1000mk2s. Why? I decided I want to learn how to scratch, and the concept of dual cd players is a bit limiting. If you do get the CMX3000, beware because its an older model and won't have as a high a resale value if you do decide to upgrade. For example, I bought my Denons for $850 and now I'm gonna have to let them go for $650-$700. If you honestly dont think you're upgrade then go for it but if you're unsure take an extra month to save the cash and get teh CDJs.
Just my 2 cents
Well the thing is, if im going to be paying $600 dollars for a used CMX-3000, might as well put up another $400 and get a 2 brand new CDJ-800's for 1 grand.
BTW as far as features, does the 800 have more then the CMX-3000, or are they just about the same?
