How fast do you like to hear Trance played at ?

I'm more of a Hard NRG DJ so find myself pitching my Trance up a bit too much sometimes. My mate's a Trance head and is always telling me to slow down.

What's the general consensus ?

around 130 bpm should do it

Depends on my mood!

I don't like to limit myself.

142-146

Depends on the type.
Generally, I like to hear it about 140-144 (i.e. standard trance records pitched up by a notch or two.)

But that wouldn't work with deeper proggier stuff which I also enjoy; that has to be early 130s for me to enjoy it.

185-190

i used to like the early 90's stuff that was 150+

these days i like the housier hybrids around 130ish.

125-130 !

Jose Amnesia: i won't do a trancey more than 130 for life

There are great trance records at many tempos, but I prefer them when they bang along at around 140. Not so fast it sounds forced, but still packed with energy.

some sound good slow, like the perfecto edit of mansun - wide open space is about 120bpm but some are good in the mid 130s but my main speed for 'trance' would be 138-152bpm unless im playing old hardtrance which is 160-180bpm and then hardcore after that, with the faster 220bpm+ fun also

i like tracks around the 145 mark

trance should be played at +4 atleast and if the original bpm is less than 135 then it's always +8. trance is a fast (well not that fast) subgenre and should be played fast. it sickens me to hear trance tracks produced at 130 played at 130 just because they can pass it out as not being trance because it's cheesy or some other stupid reason

Posted by deknician on Dec-01-2005 16:52:

Nah I don't really like it much above 135bpm.

i like my psy at 145-150 and my regular stuff from 140-145.

Posted by Thois on Dec-01-2005 23:08:

134

Well, i like the " regular" trance I listen to, and play, around:
140-145 bpm

and the hardstyle around:
145 - 155 bpm

Posted by Floorfiller on Dec-01-2005 23:44:

wow everyone likes trance really fast...

i'll take mine right about 137...perfect pace for me

Posted by ziddy on Dec-01-2005 23:46:

around 140 to 145 bpm.

Posted by Candeeman on Dec-01-2005 23:49:

"around" meaning anywhere from 125-135. and most prog trance (and thats what I listen to) is around the 130-135 pace

Posted by Rebel Brown on Dec-02-2005 00:10:

133 - 140 usually.

Posted by Spirit5 on Dec-02-2005 00:19:

130 to 140 BPM does it for me. Anything less is more like traditional prog house, deep house, progressive breaks or anything like that. I like building up sets that start off around 130 to 131 and build up to maybe 138 BPM or more. So anything really, since most trance seems to be 130 to 140 BPM.

Depends on what mood i am in at the time. But overall i think there is a point between the beat of a rave song and a chill song. I listen to shit around that level of sound

Very quantitative. How fast, exactly, is a "rave song" TiT?
