when did u consider that u was "adult"?
thanx erik .....our convo gave me this idea and i thought when do u consider yourself as an adult ?i mean as soon as u get 18 then yeah u are "an adult" for european or 21 for u guys american ?
i dunno what makes u becoming an adult ?just the fact to live in your own and not with parents anymore?
i wonder !
Well, I donno when you become an adult, but what I do know is that I was treated like I was 3-4 years younger when I was in North America...
Age limits such as "you are an adult when you are 18" are stupid and makes little sense imo.
i don't think adulthood has anything to do with age...i think it has everything to do with maturity. a part of maturity i'd say is being independent and self supporting and all of that, but i think more than that it's just a mindset that you grow into. the realization that actions dictate consequences and the ability to choose to live the lifestyle that you want.

In the US you are considered an adult at 18 for everything except drinking alcohol and buying a handgun.
I agree with floorfiller that it is a state of mind, and I grew into it relatively recently at 20 or 21.
Looking back, I still had the mindset of a kid at 18 and 19.
*cough*marie your PM's are full
*cough*
I'm 24. I'm not an adult now and I never will be!
Altho when I go to America in 2 months time they are gonne let me drink! Which is not really advisable seein that I'm English!!
i felt like an adult since age 12 or 13, can't really remember which, and i think it was the realization that my logic exceeds that of most if not all of the adults around me.
I have pubes. I must be an adult.
I've kinda been thinking I'm adult and everything since about 17. Then I stopped thinking that somewhere around 21

Hmm I don't know. I guess I sort of always have, at least as long as I can remember...
I believe someone is an adult when they:
1. Be responsible for their own actions;
2. Make decisions for theirselves;
3. Be independent financially (have their _own_ income, doesn't matter how) and personally (they take care of themselves).
Of course, different people arrive at these points in time at different ages. Some arrive at 13, others at 26, others never (#1!).

From when I was young I always thought of myself as an adult. And to be fair I was more grown up than alot of adults even at 10. I remember going to get an adult (not porn!!! hehe) science magazine about then and seeing two "grown" men looking at a football (soccer for the yanks) magazine. They looked at me I looked at them, then they looked at the ground like little school boys being told off.
Though I would say it's only since I started my proper finnished uni job that I would consider myself a true adult. Though I would say that even when I was young I could have become a "true adult" if I needed to. I still relied upon other people to an extent, though if I had to I could of survived on my own I didn't. Hence not an adult in my eyes.
I lost a coupla pubes today after riding outside.
Does that mean I'm regressing in my adulthood?

| Originally posted by josh4 Yes I agree, it's an entirely relative subject that's different for every person. In the case of law, the problem is just figuring out a specific age or critera to apply to every person simply for legal reasons. |
