Astral Projection and Infected Mushroom

How would you compare the two, if possible at all?

I love Astral Projection - Mahadeeva

As for Infected Mushroom - their album 'Classical Mushroom' is probably the most tranciest album I've heard...its genius.

Not possible.
I mean, they have something in common: they all have had their best days already
But otherwise ... not possible.
IM nowadays make cheese pop-psytrance and AP try themselves more into the synth-trance division. They might be both filed under psytrance, but the poptrance concept of IM and the (rather fullon) more synthey less poppy AP style from now are not comparable at all. I'd say it's both a different style of music...
And I must say I like new AP better than new IM...

EDIT: OLD AP and OLD IM indeed have more in common with each other. But still ... IM was more aggressive ... a bit at least ... and AP was more trancy. A bit. But the old stuff can more easily be compared than the new stuff...

I used to like them very much.I thought they were the kings of Psy, but I didn't knew much at the past...

it's not easy to compare them since their history is quite different.
Astral Projection started out as one of the greatest and most pioneering goa trance acts from Israel. They paved road for hundreds of producers and placed goa trance on the music map.

however since the year 2000 they lost that path and went into the full on swamp.

Infected started out with a more crazy and twisted sound which was refreshing in the beginning. Then when they got popular they mixed in vocals and cheesy elements into their tunes. And one of the guys still doesn't understand that he can't sing. He never could.

The only common thing both groups share is that they both went up and then down quality wise.

Like I would said it myself. I do like AP's old productions quite good and sure a lot more than IM, that's for sure.

infected got popular as a direct result of their first album, it wasnt untill the 4th album that they started to really use vocals, and even then it was only on the 'alternative' cd, and not on the psytrance cd, so we can even skip that to see that they only started really using vocals on their fifth album.

their main reason for using vocals on those last two albums was to innovate psytrance, not to make it more accessible and poppy. whether they succeeded in their plan or not is up for debate.

the only ground you could use to compare electronic music artists objectively is on their production quality (i.e mastering), in which department infected clearly exceeds astral.

but then again, you gotta start looking at whether someone else did the mastering for the artists, in which case you can't compare the artists objectively at all....

Is it that hard to master songs correctly?

I would pick Astral btw.
