NYE - Paul Oakenfold at Avalon

Here we go....

On one hand the prospect of seeing Oakenfold on NYE sounds neat. On the other..., I'm sure you all get the picture.

Will he be at Avalon during the countdown or will he be in Montreal by then?

thinking about this one, oakey will probably play from 12-2 latest if he wants to make it to montreal in time

Posted by InterMilan31 on Dec-04-2005 09:01:

Cant you take a copter to montreal? if so he will be there in time all he needs to do is get on top of a building with a helipad...wont be able to fly outta La Guardia at that time so 12-2 if he is takin a plane

I think I might go to this. Depends who else is in the line-up though. Good reason to go to Avalon for my first time too.

I dunno if this is correct or not but...

I JUST got off the phone with Avalon and the lady said the only dj booked for that night is Oakenfold and he is spinning from 9pm till 4am. This has to be a joke?

Yeah, she doesn't know what the hell she's talking about. I mean, has Oakie spun a 7 hour set in say, the last 10 years (or ever)? I'd be very surprised if you get more than 3 hours. I'd guess it's only 2, actually.

Also, there's this that I don't really see Godskitchen letting him out of to play from 9-4:

Posted by DOOMBOT on Dec-05-2005 17:36:

Well, the only way I am definitely going to Avalon is if there are other good djs spinning that night besides Oakenfold. To me, he is just an added bonus. And whether he is on that night or not, I still see it being loads of fun simply listening to the trance. But if the other dj's are crapola then forget it. I won't be spending $120 for 2 hours of Oakenfold.

i saw oakie a couple of years ago in los angeles on new years eve. i dont think that guy ever spins longer than two hours, which surprises me because he must be the only dj who doesnt do really long sets (4 + hours). so if you dont want to pay so much just to see him for a couple of hours, then you definitely should not go.

i dream of seeing oakey spinning longer that 2 hours. I've seen him sooooo many times playing 2 hours or less but I sorta resided to the fact that it ain't gonna happen.

If it's true, then that is a good reason to go there at NYE! And let Paul be the opener for Serge's set=)))

I'm considering going to this. I'm tempted to go b/c I enjoyed Oakenfold's set at Central Park this year, a lot of old classics. But the $75 cover is definately holding me back. So is the fact that he might leave early to go to Montreal.

They upped that quickly. It was only $60 last week.
