[review] FERRY CORSTEN @ Lost Episode, 4th & B San Diego 12.2

Well holy shit fucking A. Tiesto aint got SHIT, I repeat, SHIT on FERRRRRYYYYY!!!!

Ferry is why I still fucking love trance, because he plays it like its meant to be played...as fucking PARTY music. Shit you MOVE to and get drunk to and have a good ol' fucking time to.

Because hes moving and getting drunk and having a good ol' time playing it for people! This is what I respect so much...

He played some absolutely sick shit. WTF was that crazy electro-trancy track he dropped before he started playing some breaks! Holy fucking shit! Everyone was going nuts. Punk of course...this was awesome to stand behind him while he played punk.

I took some great photos which should be up this evening...I hope I made up for the fact that many couldnt bring their cameras in. Thats a retarded rule 4th & B have apparently.

Anyways...it was a dream come true. Ferry is awesome and he signed my hat. I told him it was my Dad's but I didnt give any backstory. He said "Hes gonna think a bird shit on his hat man!" -Me: "Nah I dont think he'll mind "

I lol'ed. Cool to see alot of TA's making such a long trip for Ferry on a rainy night. But it was worth it...especially after I told the retarded 4th & B sound guy to turn down the damn highs. That guy needs to be fired.

I dunno if I will go tonight just because I am so exhausted from a long work week..but damn, last night was a great time.

Yeah 4th & B is notorious for clueless soundguys IMO. They're too rock concert oriented. Not sure about the renovations there, looks a bit plain. The new sound is good (about fucking time!) Still it ain't no Avalon rig. Needed more low end and cleaner. Laser set up was pretty tight. Ferry ripped a good one and I didn't hear anything cheesy. Crowd wasn't as into it as the other 4th & B shows with AvB and Markus but they still kept the floor moving. Pretty nice vibe in there, not too crowded, drink lines were short. The line to get in though, needed some help. Sucked that all they would serve at 1:35 was shots since they think you can't drink a beer in enough time to have all the alcohol off the floor by 1:45. I think it's time I head overseas again to feel what it's like to be able to drink all night, Cali really blows when it comes to that.

Anyway, Kristina warmed it up real nice and played alot of stuff I have and I enjoyed hearing those tracks on that system. We left shortly after meeting Ferry so I didn't catch much of Victor's set but he did take it up a notch and that was really cool. Had a great time last night, thanks Lost Episode! Looking forward to 06 with Marco V

i'm 90% sure thats a new ferry track(friend of a friend type thing). but regardless that was by far the song of the night. electro breaks... WOW

my review:

first, thanks victor w/ help at the door. means a lot to me.

got in and G Roy was playing Ian Carey - say what u want(Ian Carey Remix) so i went nuts, i love that song and its been getting huge support from Angello & Ingrosso. got a little more funkier with the house selection and lost a bit of the crowd but got it back towards the end.

sky came on and killed the sound. went in w/ an interesting breakbeat number, could def see her following going crazy up front.

ferry came on and it was instantly hands in the air. They were playing w/ the colored lights in the back and it was WAY tight. i was up in the VIP area and watching everyone just LIGHT up was very cool. That electro track was amazing but my dissapointment of the night was Airbase - Escape. That song is gorgeous but that sound system didn't do it justice and that song actually killed a bit of the vibe on the dancefloor. i was so mad

victor - rockin set, cool to see how the energy was kept and most people stayed until 3:30 just for you. your numbers looked good last night and i'm happy for you guys.

tracks i remember:
G-Roy:
Ian Carey - say what u want(Ian Carey Remix)

Sky: (totally drawing a blank right now)
Endre - kill for you (Probspot remix)

Ferry:
Ferry - Fire
Ferry - Right of Way (OMG, the lights on this was AMAZING)
Ferry - Punk
BT - Force of Gravity (FC Remix)
Airbase - Escape
Galen Behr - Time will Tell
Cranberries - Shattered (Bootleg)
Ferry Corsten - I Love You
Moonman - Glaxia

i'll come back to the list when i'm less hungover.

Michelle, Hotdogwater, vic, Scott St. Michael(finally nice to meet you bro), jenna and kicked out roomate, Crystil(thank you!) and all others.

btw i think i met a TA last night we were bitching about all the cracked out asians pushing into us. You were like "it's way worse in L.A. i just drove down here for the show" ... well hi

Posted by Junior Chavez on Dec-03-2005 22:18:

i ended up going to red for theeo and blank and jones.

/me screams like a girl

Re: Re: [review] FERRY CORSTEN @ Lost Episode, 4th & B San Diego 12.2

Holy Hell Ferry rocked it last night! It didn't seem like he was playing his usual track selection but it was great whatever it was. I gotta say that Kristina and Victor were awesome as well! The whole night had a great vibe and tons of energy. I was a tad bit worried when I got in there and it was still pretty empty. Eventually it filled up to an almost perfect level... Plenty of dancing room but plenty of people.

I was surprised how many TAs were there -- that was way cool. (, I didn't forget about ya either ). Well I just got in so I'm gonna go take a nap and get ready for tonight... Cya guys there

yeah...last night was pretty damn amazing...first CA event I've been to, and the first time I've seen Ferry. Wow, is all I have to say.

Thumbs up

GREAT NIGHT! It was SO worth the trip to SD to see the show- LATA's representing!

Caught most of Kristina's set, and watched the floor fill quickly when she threw
down. Not unusual for Kristina tho- she always packs the room, and really has
a way of getting the crowd pumped before the headliner. As always, really nice
work Kristina- thanks!

Like Bjorn (HotDogWater) said, Ferry didn't play what seemed to be his usual
style- but the change was nice, and the track selection was awesome-
Ferry NEVER disappoints- ever!

Victor banged out an AMAZING set- Although the crowd diminished a wee
bit- the people that remained we're truly rewarded to one kick ass tune after
another, and they definitely showed their appreciation. Victor was (imo) the
rockstar of the night- autographing VictorDinaire/Lost Episode Cd's as
people were handing them to him, while he's spinning, and even a girl from
the crowd up front, had him autograph her shoe!!! lol all the while, Victor's
mixing was seamless- and without a doubt, he was having a great time.
That's what it's all about! Fantastic job Victor Dinaire!

Great to see the LATAs that made it out to this show It was also nice to meet
Chris (CND) as well! Sarah, Randy Boyer, DjFaded, Kris, Julie, LeeAnne, Clovis,
Pimp Bjorn Michelle, Robert Stern, Scotty, Trish.. It's always good times hanging
out with you guys!

Awesome, can't wait for tonight

Ferry is still one of my favorite djs and such a nice guy. I'm glad y'all had fun!

Posted by gypsygirl on Dec-04-2005 21:05:

great show, the vibe was definitely a great one! very cool peeps in SD and no washing machine alliance in attendance which is always nice (don't worry, got my fill of them last night at avalon, the mother ship for the alliance )

got there a bit late b/c tricia and i popped over to austin scott's b-day party. when we got in, after thinking we would have to stand in that long ass line in the rain, but didn't thank you scotty for that, kristina was just finishing up her set and of course the crowd was in full dancing mode. then ferry gets up on the decks and down front we go. tons of LATAs in attendance plus finally got to meet CND, you are awsome! michelle has her hearts and hands them out and up in the air they go! ferry made sure to sign so much stuff for people, he was really enjoying himself. great track selection, punked and fire, the highlight for me. sad to see him end his set so soon, his residency at avalon has spoiled me for long sets by him, but great none the less.

victor's set was amazing as always, turning into such a rock star. played so many songs i love and kept the crowd pumped and dancing.

so nice to see the SD crew i have been getting to know plus all my TA friends! nice surprise to see dan and lisa, and of course michelle, kris, mike, robert, julie, bjorn, crystil, tricia, scotty, victor, clovis, kristina, leeann, and i'm sure a few more i'm forgetting right now!

headed over to bacchus house afterwards to the opening set of st. micheal! very nice my dear. then was introduced to the music of zoltar! quite the rocking dj and got to spend quite a bit of my evening hanging out with him when he wasn't spinning! very nice to meet you, super cool dude. victor's set was great as well. always have a great time at the afterhours, so many fun people that go, you feel like it's almost a house party with a ton of friends, very friendly and just an all round great vibe.

thanks scotty, victor and tricia for letting me crash at your pad again, always nice to put me up there. scotty thanks for the great "health food" you rock and hanging with you on saturday was a nice way to end it until i crashed for a couple of hours.

good times
highlight: ferry coming up to me after the show and apologizing for not dropping rock your body (swoon, me faints )

low light: the very tall drunk guy that pushed his way upfront and then proceeded to throw up on stage

low, low light: the 2 + hours it took to get home still a bit drunk from the 2 bottles of champaign i drank and extremely exhausted! but worth it

I had a good time..a little bit too much to drink..but the night rocked for sure!!
I don't think I like the remodel or whatever it is..very dark, and no more plants and stuff on the stage..it kinda had a ghetto feel to it..

Posted by sweetcandy girl on Dec-05-2005 06:54:

Love

WOW WOW WOW!

A Few Days late but...

I leave work around 7:00ish.. Mind you the assistants and Dr. Are still there working! But I knew if I did not get ready and go I would be late and not get in.
With my luck I make it to SD in 1.5 hrs! I flew and there was NO Traffic! WHOOOO HOOOOO!!!
I get my ticket ( thank you soooo much scotty for that) and wait for Kris to show up. Then we go inside.

I am not too sure about the remolding job at 4th and B. Looking around I do not think much has changed. The lighting is differnt I will give it that. it is more dark now.. but the 4 colored lazer was so much better. And to think what that would have looked like when it hit the little disco balls stung up!

Anywhos the sound was TOO loud when we walked in. I could no hear anyone talk to me. I had to resort to using the Text on my cell phone. The Hights where so high. Thank god clovis went up there to tell them about the issue.

I wasn't really feeling the first Dj but then Kristina gets on and drops Markus Schulz- You won't see me Cry (2005) and I was a happy camper. I really enjoyed kristina set and then Ferry comes on! Of chorse I start handing out the hearts I made to people and hold them up

WOW OMG WOW! AMAZING!!!
Thank you Anothy for the Tracklist.. so I won't mention those again.. but there was one Track that was I reconized b/c I hear the words to it before but it was a remix. Avan- All I want! I must find this track. Ferry set seemd to go by so fast! But during his set he started singing the hearts and flyiers. I handed him mine and I got a specail notie (yay *melts* yay)

Victor gets on and man drops- tune after tune after tune. The crowd dies down a little bit but us hard core people are there to the end. NOICE.
I loved it when Victor played Dozilla- With out you as well as With out you near YAY!

I am not too sure about the SD crowd that was there last night. So many people where out of it. There was almost a fight. Crazy people getting on the stage in front of Ferry, puke on the stage and a lot of "On Broadway" type grils running around forgetting it is 30 deg. out side.
Oh well there where so many amazing TA's there! that made up for it! I had so much fun!!
The night ends at 4 so there where 2 hrs to kill before the after party. So I went with Sarah, Kris, Mike, Robber, Julie to Scotty and Victors and Crashed on the most confy bed. After my nap I decided to head back home to prepare for Saturday.

I play hookie from work... but I think that got me in a whole lot of Trouble! (oooopsie) I call in at 8am- Get a call at 9 and 9:30.. Then again right before 2 and again before 3! Now I have to get this Dr's note like I was in High School again! Oh well it this trip was worth it! So no regreats

Edit: That no Cam rule really sucks balls btw!:whip

I don't think they are done remodeling yet...At least I hope not! It looked better in there BEFORE they remodeled. The sound was pretty bad too. Just when you think San Diego is getting cool...Looks like I'm going to LA every weekend as usual!

Late reply here. buuuut I had a great time. Nice to meet some of you briefly. The girl I went with sucked so I just did my own thing most of the night. Corsten kicked my ass tho.. fuckin awesome set - and my first time hearing Victor, Ill totally go represent for him in the future. Kinda feel bad I didnt know it was him helping at the door until I saw him on stage soz man! glad most everyone had fun

Posted by CND on Dec-05-2005 19:17:

I agree about the renovations. The only things I noticed were some paint and a couple of more bars installed. Also I thought the sound took a major downturn. The last couple of times at 4th & B the sound was superb. It sounded like they were tweaking it all night.

Kristina you were great. I had a bunch of people around me asking "Who's the dj she is terrific." Really enjoyed what I heard from your set.

Ferry was Ferry. He always seems to be having the time of his life and folks were really enjoying themselves. I liked it too although it wasn't my favorite Ferry set. I miss the techy-trance Ferry of early 2004. I would have loved to see Ferry Saturday night too. Ferry is the best and the most supportive of the west coast of any of the 'top' dj's.

Was it just me or when Victor went on did the energy level jump. Victor I love your sound and it looked like everybody else did too. I just hit a wall around 3:30 and headed home. Sorry I couldn't make it any longer just the Monday thru Friday grind took it's toll on my last week.

A thanks to all the LATAs who made it down. It always seems more "official" with you all in attendance. Enjoyed meeting many of you and look forward to seeing many more shows with you in the future.

Also thanks to Lost Episode for bringing Ferry to San Diego. Looking forward to Marco V/D:Fuse. Tickets are on sale through wantickets for $15.

btw I was right by the guy who puked on the stage. I didn't know if I should laugh or be horrified. I still don't.

thanks to everyone that came out to our event

yes, the club is not done yet, sound isnt installed yet, nor are the lights. the entire top level is redone along with the mezzanine but still is incomplete. they ordered new lighting but they returned it last week because of defects. we found out wednesday that we had basically no lights for our show so we installed the laser last minute.

our Marco V show on January 20 will be the first night fully done (as im told by management). its a work in progress but were excited about the final product!

see you at the next event

This explains a lot. It did look a bit underdone compared to the setup for Armin. But you guys did a great job with what you had. The laser was great and the lights behind the stage were awesome when they were used.
