Deliverance XMAS BASH! 9th December @ Altitude

Friday 9th December @ Altitude

Welcome to Deliverance's Christmas Party! Last month the opening of the balcony brought a huge number of people in early and we are expecting more of the same this month especially since it will finally be summer!! For this event we welcome back the talented electro duo, Dan Hall and Teia, for Dan's last set in Melbourne before he heads up north. Next up we will continue the house sounds with Steve Boeyen (aka Steve Nichols) before getting into the trance with a progressive trance set from up and coming Lister Cooray. And to round out the night we have our resident trance heavyweight DJB and 5AM head honcho Albert Mangler. Join us for a Christmas party to remember... guaranteed to be better than your work party!

omg... what a night!!!

Ok so there was bugger all people there but it was fantastic to see the way that after lister cleared the dance floor DJ B was able to coax back the 20 people that were there to dance. He played all the classics and dropped em in at just the right time.

Then Anomyst arrives with his chrisseis party and refills the club. Classic work mate.

dude, its hard when the crowd is uneducated, they were all drunk pub crawlers anyway, the only way to keep them happy is play madonna music or ac dc, listers set was unbelievable, very dancey upbeat, it was just a pitty the crowd didnt take to it, listers mixing was also unbelievable, ive said it once and ill say it again, this kid technically is one of the best around

Posted by Dr P on Dec-10-2005 00:49:

hey it was a hard crowd and you had to give the what they wanted. I don't think it was AC DC or Madonna.

DJ B didn't play either of those artists.

I was just making a point that DJ B did an amazing set that nobody was there to see.

It was a lesson in putting education in the back seat and playing what was needed, technical or not.

I am sure in another setting in another time Lister would have been really interesting.

Well, I had a really good time! Nice to meet Lister finally- mixing was tight man, though I'm looking forward to catching a trancier sound from you (23rd isn't it?). DJB's mixing was really tight too, tune selection was craftfull- It'd be great to have a scene where you don't have to drop vocal anthems to reclaim the crowd, but since we don't, good on ya for living in reality. Then there was Alb's vs djb for the last hour, another class act, catering perfectly to the Anomyst rent-a-crowd! (that was a top effort man ) Great to see Alb's 'walkin the dinosaur' to calibro!! That never gets old!!

lol Ben has this magic ability to pull his phone out of his pocket and an hour later there's a party... sorry to hear about the dance floor clearance tho Lister - Deliverance seems to pull a weird drinking/trance blend that can be difficult to keep happy no matter what you throw at 'em.

geez i love it how people blame the crowd for being un-educated. it's having an attitdue like that, that gets people nowhere. i seriously doubt anyone was there to listen to madonna.

you can't get up there and just play the music style you're into. it has to be appropriate for the night/time slot etc. if the dance floor starts to clear you should notice and change your style to get people back up.

its all experience, djin aint as easy as it may seem sometimes - and altitude can be a bitch some nights - dun worry bout lister he knows whatz going on and itll click more and more often im sure

Posted by sezzy on Dec-11-2005 06:50:

i didn't mean that in a detramental way towards lister. mangler actually said his mixing was really good!

Posted by PauLie_C on Dec-11-2005 09:42:

correct, his mixing is as clean as a whistle, and at the end of the day, that is probably the most important element in djing, and lister has that down to an absolute tea
