"loungy" house??

I'm stuck here, so i'm hoping someone here can help.
I really like the sound of house music that you hear at night.
The kind you put on while driving downtown in the city at night, or you hear at a small lounge.
Here is my list of what kind of house i'm referring to, and if ANYONE has any suggestions, or rather can add to it, I would be in your debt.
I need more of this kind of house music in my collection, but it's really tough to find.
Most of this falls between 123 to 129 bpm.

Modjo - What I Mean (Bob Sinclair mix)
Felix Da Housecat - Walk With Me
Iio - At The End (Scumfrog mix)
Iio - Chastity (Extended mix)
A-xus - When I Fall In Love
Planet Funk - Chase The Sun
Dirty Vegas - Ghosts (M.A.S Collective Vocal mix)

what you want is deep house...

i dunno if those tracks you mentioned are really what i think of when i think deep house...i think more like this...

Hot Toddy - Mindtrap (Sample)

Loco Dice - Jacuzzi Games (Sample)

Jussi-Pekka - Breeze (Sample)

The Electric Press - Re:Evaulate (Dub Mix) (Sample)

stuff like that maybe?

Posted by sigmanova on Dec-06-2005 03:46:

try D:Fuse - People 03 Both Sides of the Picture

CD2 was mixed live in a chilled kind of house atmosphere so i think it fits your needs exactly.

The Mindtrap one is bang on.
I'll try to find some Dfuse as well, so thank you very much.
Can you think of any more then?

well i knew you'd like that one because of the vocals...it's a pretty exceptional track, but it's hard to find good quality vocal tracks like that. i'd just suggest listing to house dj's more...you'll find them from time to time...

Posted by Scoops on Dec-06-2005 04:25:

E.B.T.G. - Five Fanthoms (Club 69 rmx)

E.B.T.G. - Wrong (Deep Dish rmx)

Deepest Blue - Give it Away (Camel Riders Mirage rmx)

Kings of Tommorow - Thru (Junior Jack rmx)

Sonique - Can't make up my Mind (Robbie Rivera rmx)

Thick Dick - Touch the Sky (Camel Riders rmx)

Carl Kennedy - The Love You Bring me

Roger Sanchez - Another Chance

Bastian - You got my Love (Chocalte puma rmx)

Depeche Mode - Only when I Loose Myself (Chirs Micali rmx)

well if you liked the samples above...i'd check into dj's like

Sander Kleinenberg, Nic Fanciuli, Danny Howells etc

of course they aren't strictly deep house, but you'll find a lot of stuff like this on their CD compilations...

Posted by DigitalMP on Dec-06-2005 05:21:

Deep? Sander and Skylark are proggy/electro, and Sander is more bangin now than he ever was. Howells starts his sets out proggy, then gets really nasty and dirty later on.

But deep, no...unless he wasn't looking for deep, and moreso what you were describing with some of the tracks you listed.

Speaking of house we got Hed Kandi at our local club on boxing day , 7 on the door cheap price to be honest.

WOW!
Thanks to Scoops, Digital & Floorfiller for those suggestions.
I will have my work cut out for me now getting a hold of em all, but again, thanks so much.
You guys really know your stuff here!

well i don't think he's really looking for deep house...i think he just wants house tunes that are a little calmer. i suggested those artists because well...i the tunes that i posted came off of their compilations for the most part. i don't really think a liveset by those dj's is what he's looking for, but usually checking out there compilations you're going to find at least one tune like the ones i posted which aren't really deep house...but more laid back progressive stuff. i mean just look at the tunes he was suggesting...those aren't really deep house either hehe ...

Kaskade, Miguel Migs, Mark Farina are deep house.

Nude Tempo Vol 1 by Miguel migs-------> if you don't get laid with this cd then you just weren't meant to be. It's loungy but there is easy transition from this to booty time.

Some loungy stuff off the top of my head:

EBTG - Wrong (todd terry remix)
Kaskade - Everything (andy caldwells big room mix)

ehh i'm lazy pm if you want more suggestions.

some great music mentioned so far. especially all the Everything But the Girl tracks.

might i add.

Deep Dish Feat E.B.T.G "The Future Of The Future"

fucking classic track. totally in that loungy sort of style.
even though i play trance, house is my one true love. just love the feel and the vibe to it. love to feel the groove.

When I'm done sampling all of the tunes you guys suggested to me, I'll let you know which ones I liked best.
I'm so impressed with the feedback here...I was initially thinkin' i wouldn't even get 2 replies, lol.

Especially the first half of his 2004 Pacha opening party! Sick Latin vibes!

Yes to Miguel Migs, and yes to Kaskade!

Inspirit Music

I'm telling you, I'm TELLIN' you! Please get these two tunes. In all my endeavors (though short lived) in the realm of deep house, I've never found any track more deep than these two:

1) Mr. Fingers (Larry Heard) - Can you feel it? (vocal mix)

2) 51 days - Paper moon

without sounding like a fake Matel barbie lounge sponsored by Neo-Soul Hed Kandi, Kaskade or Naked Music.

Mark Farina was mentioned. He incorporates some nice jazzy elements, however Herbert is master! I love Herbert. He and Nick Holder posess a sort of similar unique style. I've only dabbled in Luke Solomon, but he's a dj that seems to put out the more chilled form of house. Others can probably attest to that.Surprisingly, I was listening to a Deep Dish set from 99 or 2000 that was nice! However, none of even these dj's are up to par as those two tunes mentioned. Again, those two tunes...I've mentioned them more times than a broken record If anyone knows of anything that may compete or compare, speak now or forever hold your peace. Here ye! Here ye!

I guess good, good deep house is hard to come by?

Noooo Miss Mojito, but it's certainly not out in the open like the mainstream EDM that is so easy to find.

Miguel Miggggggggggggggssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

I can't immediately think of many 'loungey' house tracks better than:
Weekend Players - 21st Century (Francois K Remix)

EDIT:
Cosmos - Take Me With You
Afterlife - Breather (Eric Kupper Mix)
Starchaser - Jambe Myth
Kings of Tommorow - Another Day (Club Mix)
Wamdue Project - King Of My Castle (Original)

Just a few more I hope you like. Enjoy!
