Paul van Dyk - Orchestral Show

i dont know where this was recorded but it was really interesting..
imagine it like the mtv unplugged but with pvd songs...
tracklist was:
01. For An Angel
02. Crush
03. The Other Side feat. Wayne Jackson
04. Buenaventura
05. Forbidden Fruit
06. Time Of Our Lives feat. Wayne Jackson
07. Like A Friend feat. Angelika Weiz
08. Nothing But You feat. Angelika Weiz
09. Wir Sind Wir feat. Peter Heppner Encores:
10. Vega feat. Angelika Weiz
11. Pikes
12. Otro Dia

and all of them were instrumental versions and really really different....
worth a listen imo, its something different and imo, something better than most of the vst crap of 2005....
i dont know if i should post a link or not :P

Wow, thank you for this! I remember reading an interview where Paul van Dyk mentioned he was going to do this. The classical interpretations were amazing but the vocals were a bit iffy... who is Angelika Weiz?! Was Jan Johnston busy or something? I would have paid to see this live (minus Angelika Weiz) and PVD in the conductor role.

It's ok, something different certainly, but it could do without all the damn talking and most of the vocals tbh.

agreed. angelika, whoever she is, totally KILLED "Nothing But You". she has a decent voice, but certainly not in that high a range and not for trance songs.

wow this is wierd
and great at the same time
it is a very odd feeling listenting to these pieces on orchestra

so did paul sit down and score all these pieces or did ableton spit out the sheet music for him?

Posted by SidMl on Dec-06-2005 22:04:

and i think the vocals are awful

time of our lives makes my ears hurt

Thanks loads to the uploader for this

Honestly, it sounds like shit.

I see how Paul and they were trying to make is sound true to the 'ochestral' sound, mix things up a bit, and make it sounds really creative/artsy. It works in thought, but to me, it came out like ass. I would love for them to instead, do something like a cover song...and try to reporduce the electronic version using using tangible old music instruments. But that might be crap too...

now lets find that orchestral show with richie hawtin

Posted by dj jasonF on Dec-07-2005 05:39:

so, anyone knows? was it like a live act or something? with keyboard players and an orchestra?

a studio recording would be quality i guess.
