Tiesto Banned from Canada (not actually)

Because his music promotes drug use.

I know this sounds like a jayx1esque thread but before you support banning artists because of what they promote, it could be your fav artist next.

I see no source. This post is NOT credible!

I believe your making reference to the 50 cent item, and you're right to due so. Precident is a scary thing and when you start setting questionable ones you never know what could happen.

Posted by Matt on Dec-06-2005 18:49:

well... there's "promoting" drug use (by playing trance music...?), and then there's the kind of rubbish 50 cent goes on about (Drugs, thugs, murder...)

Plus, 50 Cent has spent 7+ months in prison on felony drug charges... as far as I know, Tiesto has no criminal record.

Something interesting I found:

50 Cent, on his video game (which is rated Mature 17+):

"Just because it is rated mature doesn't mean you shouldn't buy it for your kids."

I would like to see him turned away at the border for his criminal record alone.

i would love to punch 50 cent in the face. i fucking hate him

1. In what track does Tiesto promote drug use?
2. Many tracks that DO reference drug use are produced by producers, in studios - and never performed live. The only one I can think where the person who created a track that referenced drug use explictly and has performed it live is Green Velvet.

Posted by simms327 on Dec-06-2005 19:20:

i can just see it, tiesto's new album

"Get high - or die tryin"

Posted by Tygon on Dec-06-2005 19:25:

"Sex, DRUGS, and Rock n Roll"... sound familiar to anyone? An entire genre was built off of the dream of being a rock n roll superstar living this lifetstyle...

Besides... people do drugs at all types of concerts regardless of the genre... why does Trance "promote" this more? Perhaps more people do it in a club environment... but how does trance promote it more?

Posted by ghetto_fab on Dec-06-2005 19:25:

Drugs! whos saying drugs! i want drugs Gotta have them because im listning to tiesto!!!!!! ahahah bullshit stuff man.
50 is a wankster. end of story

i've heard hundreds of tracks with drug connotations preformed live in edm clubs.

tiesto also promotes club events where drugs get consumed.

a good amount of people think electronic music=rave scene=drugs. Which yes in some cases is true, but really anywhere you go drugs are usually around. club, house party, a park (lol), a creep ally, anywhere. And yes many tracks do make referance to drugs, but as ppl mentioned before so do many other types of music. I love tiesto! lol, i think its the whole rave scene that people automatically jump to the conclusion that everyone is on drugs. Not true!

As The Rush Comes.

Posted by simms327 on Dec-06-2005 19:55:

i bet if they made events go from 8pm to 2am, inestead of mdnight till 6am, less people would do drugs.

Posted by dartrance on Dec-06-2005 19:58:

petti: Thats one of the most retarded statements i have ever heard.

You do know that every big name trance dj was playing that?
So i guess every superstar dj promotes drugs then, including the producer of that track?

Once again you go to the obvious target. You also know this is dance music were talking about right?

Of course people do drugs.

Simms: If it went from 8pm - 2am the attendance would be under 50%

I dont know why people try to stray away from this. Lets accept the fact its a heavily influenced drug related scene. It always has been and always will be.

i agree with you that it is a heavily influenced drug scene..but i think its also important to realize its a choice people make to go and party and do drugs or not. I have just as good a time without doing drugs and i know many can agree with me But blamming the music is retarded. Ive been listening to electronic music since i was 12 and would hear tracks making referances to drugs, but i wouldnt say their promoting drugs...just a track that makes a referance to them. lol

Those tracks aren't PERFORMED by their original artists though. Tiesto is playing other people's music. So it would have to be the records themselves which would be banned....and that will never ever happen.

Also - FYI - drugs are consumed pretty much everywhere...

I would worry more about the people who dont use any drugs and go to clubs with attitude problems, or are drunk and looking for a fight.

I dont see whats wrong with using a drug that gives you a calm and peaceful attitude. (Im mainly talking about ecstasy)
When used with self control, ecstasy promotes peace and love(just like trance music) with only a slight odd hangover the next morning.

If you are going to bad mouth drugs, then you better do the same to people who drink alcohol(who start alot more fights then drug users), you also better make fun of smokers(which is a drug), coffee drinkers(another drug), & dont forget the heavily obese (obesity is now a disease).

i understand that, but IF attendance was as high, then i dont think ppl would do them as much, some people take them largely to stay awake...

Just to get through a Tiesto Event I would need drugs....more to forget then to enjoy the event.

If so....it would be such a small number that it wouldn't make a difference in the larger picture....most people are doing the drugs because the enjoy them and it brings a different level of understanding to the music.....having gone to events both ways...I can honestly say that you just feel more in tune with the music when in the altered state of mind.

Outside of North America, a much smaller amount of people do drugs at EDM parties. Sometimes I'm so disgusted when I walk into guv that I have to pop to enjoy myself
