Switch from Logic 6 Pro to Ableton Live 5
Should I switch from Logic 6 Pro to Ablenton Live 5?
I've been thinking about it for a while, however I haven't made up my mind
yes, please do, this will do everyone a favour
i was just asking

i switched from cakewalk sonar 5 pe to ableton... it's been a hard switch but ableton is just too good on CPU
Do you mean that you have low cpu usage using ableton?
My cpu is at 100% after just a few tracks...
But Live is a great program.. I bounce to save cpu, and get advantage of this great piece of software!
why not use both... This is a stupid question....
Jerk,
Would you mind explaining me why is this a stupid question

Why do you want to switch exactly?
Ableton is a great little package but has only a fraction of the features of Logic. If your looking to streamline and simplify your production I'd say go for it although dont expect the flexibility and audio/midi editing options of Logic. Speaking for myself, I switched from Cubase SX to Ableton about 6 months ago and wouldn't go back.

Plenty of reasons to stick to one piece of software. Familiarity. Workflow. File compatibility. Not only because Logic uses a different plugin format to VST but project files themselves. Not everyone can be arsed saving out all the midifiles and fx chains + settings for a project whenever they want to dabble in one or the other program.
Personally, I'd do it just to tell Apple to f**k off!
Professionally, I don't use either so I really can't give an honest opinion, sorry.
wow . dick me over on what Im about to say ... I could care less ...
I use a powerbook G4 ...
I am running Ableton Live 4 ...
I am running Logic Pro 7 ...
I can rewire Between Both of them ...
My Options open up alot more doing this ... MIDI and Bouncing and freezing audio and Tracks ...
What is preventing You from doing this ???
Nothing ... I would Highly recommend using both if I was you ... Plus ... A good track takes time unless your like 100 years ahead of everyone else ... so why would you be worried about just using one peice of software ???? I use 5 Software programs in my studio ... and there the main parts of my whole sound design ... why would you want to acheive just one little fraction of your overall potential sound if your serious about your music ? you wouldnt ... stick to using everything to your advantage musically ... you'll come out better in the long run ... I promise you ...
I'd say both, logic is one amazing piece of software (comming from a former 100% cubase sx user
)
rewire them, or use them alone but don't exclude one of them just because youre going to use the other.
You'll probably find it easier from time to time to use logic and other times you'll find it easier to get something done in live.
