good fantasy is never gay

unless it's a gay fantasy.

can't wait for The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

Peepz need to stop referring to it as Narnia. Don't they realise that it's a series?

only becuase that is how the movie is being marketed

u think they'll do the others?

Posted by Philby on Dec-07-2005 12:12:

i can't remember if i read the books, but i remember watching tv series of it, and that little kid sold out his friends for turkish delight

The official working title is "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe"

i would think so. The potential is there. Big budget + big reputation + big audiences = big profits. This series is already being hyped as the series to rival the Lord of The Rings movie trilogy. whether they do the entire series, as opposed to only three movies, is another question.

haha, tbh i think LOTR is a bit of a joke anyway! never understood why someone with such a rich imagination and skilful writing would put soooooo much effort into telling me that tree is fvcking green *shakes head* i never even finished the final book.

but, next time im in the mood for a new series, ill have a look at the wheel for sure

then you'll detest the wheel of time, IMO Robert Jordan has a wonderful imagination, and a great sense of drama, but he NEEDS an editor. far more verbose than Tolkien, to the point that in later books, his long-winded style feels self-indulgent. he simply didn't need all those novels to be 1000 pages long. by 'winter's heart', i felt that he was dragging the story out simply for the sake of it.

anyway, take my opinion with a grain of salt. i think LOTR is the greatest-ever achievement in fantasy writing ;-)

This new Narnia movie looks like a holywood big budget rip.

It will ruin the books.

I dont know man, i prefer books to movie adaptions normally but its great to see things you have imagined on a screen and think "hey, thats just how i pictures he/she/it would look"

Posted by davidvonhauser on Dec-08-2005 07:49:

I like the visual experience how you describe there yes, but I just think the whole 'big budget' film thing ruins great fantasy. I prefer to read it and imagine it myself rather than mindlessly be told what it should look like, especially when it's crammed into a 90 min film slot that is usually more focused on the 'awesome graphics' than the acting or story.
