Production's role in your life

I was just wondering how many of you producers are in school, have a job, or are full-time producers?

I just got out of an exam- studying for it cut into my producing time!

Also, what role does production play in your life? Is it your passion or a hobby? Discuss!

I have a full-time job in the computer industry and producing is my hobby & passion. I find I must do something creative in order to feel satisfied. At first, it was poetry and writing stories. Also, I used to mess around on the piano when I was a little girl "writing" music. I'm not expecting to ever produce full time. But I'm driven to do it. It almost hurts when I can't.

I work full time & every second of my spare time is taken up by producing, gaming, eating & sport. There's not enough time in a day!!

True!

I work fulltime at a factory. On my sparetime I often produce, dj'ing and hang out with friends.

I work fulltime as a Sales Manager, some dj'ing, have a family and produce 3 nights a week. Wish it could be more, but there's just not enough hours in the day!

2 people said they produce full time but didn't post anything... :P I wonder if this is because there was no option for "I don't work, I don't go to school, I live with my mom and play on the computer all day making dope choonz while she does my filthy laundry."

LOL

I have a full time job in the hospitaltiy business. im the front desk manager at a hotel in the resort area of virginia beach. since it is the off season i am able to bring my laptop and headphones to work and produce there, even though when i go home and hook into my monitors everything sounds totally different. i can still get some song ideas or riffs down and do the tweaking at home. music production to me is a serious hobby. it consumes probably 80% of my day. if i am not reading about production i am in the studio making tracks. shit tracks right now, but everytrack sounds better than the last. thanks to tranceaddict and all you peoples very usefull info.

Student Producer. I'd like to go full time, though. Not likely, though.

I'm a student and I work 20h weeks. Production is definately an essential part of my life, but I'd say I spend most of my time listening to music and very little time actually doing anything. When I do get an idea for something though, I get so caught up in it that no school, work, lack of sleep, lack of water or sleep deprivation can take me away from the computer.

I'm a student studying Music Technology, which is basically just producing with some extras.... so I kinda classify as "Student" and "Full time producer" at the same time.......

How is Music technology like, what do you learn?

Posted by messytechie on Dec-10-2005 13:46:

it depends on the course

e.g. mine teaches you web design and business studies, whilst Guildhall teaches you how to build a violin......
