Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2:SF
Anyone playing Battlefield 2 and/or the Sepecial Forces pack?!? There are a few of us ATLTAs that play almost every night and are always looking for new players. So if you are up for it, PM me or Download XFire and find me on there. (XFire name is Xyzpdq0121) Hope to see some TAs on there so we can have a ass kicking squad!

For the vidcard AGP or PCI-E
If its AGP, what's chipset on the board.

Is SF good? I may be forced into purchasing it.

not worth 30 bucks IMO.

The maps are good. I love the new weapons. It is a big buggy at times but nothing too bad. For people who like Kirkland or some of the other city maps, you will LOVE SF!

Been hearing bad stuff about the vehicles...especially the choppers
and is it true that there are no airplanes in the new maps?

Yes it is true that there are no planes yet in the new expansion. It is more like city fighting. I think they are going to bring planes into updates because you can earn a airplane ribbon (which only makes sense if you can fly a plane at some time in the future). As far as the vehicles, They are true to life. The Russian rebels APCs are old are rinky. The make alot of noise and are slower. Just what you would expect from a fighting force such as the russian rebels. I LOVE the jet skis and the ATVs. The new Humvee with a TOW missile is much needed. I wish they had it in normal BF2.

I would go with NVidia... Any card is fine but if you are going to buy something new, just make sure that it has 256 on it. I have run BF2 both on my 5800 128mb and my 5900 Ultra 256mb. Both will run it just fine in the low and mid ranges. (Anything of higher quality and make sure you have a SHITE load of ram and processing power.)
My system:
Intel 3.6GH Processor with 1MB cache
2 GB 3200 Duel Channel Memory
Nvidia 5900 Ultra w/ 256 MB
2 X 300GB 7200 RPM Maxor SATA HDs 16MB Buffer
2 X 21in Dell Flat pannel screens (one on DVI and one on VGA)
LTB 5.1 Headphones (LOVE THESE THINGS.. Believe it or not, true 5.1 in a head phone)
Logitec G5 Laser Mouse and G15 Keyboard. (I just got these yesterday with my x-mas gift card so I will tell you how they work later)
Sad to say, most of this has been purchased BECAUSE of BF2. I can run in the highest settings but I do not. With too much shadowing and textures you can not snipe as well. Yes it makes things look MAD COOL, but if you are 300 yards away by a bush, I can see you if the shadows are turned down and the textures are not as high. SOmething to think about before you go turing everything way up. If you have a card that is decent, like the 5800 with 128MB, I would spend the extra money on RAM (FOR SURE if you are under 1GB of ram) Before I would buy a new card. But that is just me! For that matter, Buy a SATA HD (I picked up my 300GB at a steal for $90). The SATA HDs have made a HUGE difference in load times. I am the first to spawn in a new map almost everytime! Heck I can cap a flag before your feet even hit the ground!

+1 to that, but the reason why i asked AGP, is because i think ATI makes alot better AGP cards than nvidia...price/performance ratio. My 9800 was able to do BF2 on the highest settings with AA and AF, at 1024x768 resolution at 40 fps...this was the 128mb version, i know the 256 version is easier to come by now and I would highly recommend that one...ONLY if your chipset is not a VIA nor ULI. 9800s are not compatible with those two, if thats the case then a 6600 GT will do the trick
. Get back to me for sure...oh and happy holidays everyone!
