Question New Years Resolutions?

I know its kinda early to be asking about new years resolutions.

I'm curious to see if anyone is getting a jump start on one or going to carry through with it?

I am going to get back into shape. Start running again and eating healthier (not all the time). Hopefully, this will help with my smoking habit.

What's yours & why are you doing it?

Actually, I did pretty well on most of mine from last year

Only things I didn't manage were the cutting down on my crackhead ways, starting working out and starting to produce music seriously (I've given up on the producing thing for now, too much time, can't be arsed).

The others (career, love, getting a proper dj gig) all happened swimmingly

seriously... the more i think about it, the more ridiculous of an idea it sounds! a new year shouldn't be a reason for people to make changes or goals in their life... you should do stuff because you want to, not because you feel like you should. i guess it's just easier for people to "start fresh" when the new year rolls around.

Posted by igottaknow on Dec-09-2005 15:51:

to start smoking

btw lucid i was thinking the same thing seriously everytime i scroll down to the bottom of a thread you've copyrighted my ideas!

I really don't believe in that crap, I mean you say you wanna do something & perhaps begin to but it never happens...hey kudos to those who stick it out but most times it isn't completed. UNLESS it's a resolution to finish school by the end of next year & stop slacking, maybe.

I'm not going to do a resolution, I just end up letting myself down...so I'd rather do it for myself out of nowhere & get it done then to SAY I'm gonna do it & then I don't.

In the end (although clich), actions do speak much louder than words.

i was talking to my friend last night actually about this same kinda stuff haha. we've both been big into working out and everything in the past, but lately other things are getting in the way...for me work and school...for him grad school. and we keep having that mentality. "oh i'll start tomorrow because then i can start right" and lately it's turned into "oh i'll start at new years" and really it is ridiculous. i mean the sooner you do something the sooner you're going to have results or the benefits of what you're doing...i'm gonna stop putting stuff off like that because then it never gets done.

yeah i used to stress about life all the time, trying so hard to keep things in order... do good at work, pay the bills, save money, pay off debt, don't get too wrapped up in partying, etc... lately i stopped trying so hard and i realized things are a lot easier when i don't stress about it too much. i'm just doing what i enjoy, and i'm being smart about the way i do things, rather than creating all these huge plans and goals for myself. i find most things in life are easier for me if i just let them happen as they happen.

basically i look at the last year, and i compare all the things that happened to my resolutions that i made last new years, and there's a lot of shit i did that was NEVER planned that made my life better. i broke all my resolutions but i still ended up 100x happier in the end.

Didn't necessarily mean for New Years. It just so happens that people pick that time of year to try something new.

I was just putting it out there to see if people try to change their life when they are uphappy with it.

About stressing out about everything like money (lack there of) debt, school, job, family etc.

I'm trying to do the little things everyday. As i finish them, what i have accomplished adds up to alot.

just trying to put a positive spin out i guess.

i wasn't trying to bash your thread or be negative about it. just simply stating my opinions... i'm sorry if it sounded negative.

it's an interesting thread, and even though i don't make resolutions anymore, it's cool to hear what goals other people have!
